SHELL IDEAS360 TERMS & CONDITIONS :
THIS COMPETITION IS VOID WHERE PROHIBITED OR RESTRICTED BY LAW

Introduction :
The Shell Ideas360 competition is a global competition organized by Shell International Limited (an English company with registered number 03075807, VAT registration number GB 235 7632 55, and registered office at Shell Centre, London, SE1 7NA) (the “Promoter”) asking participants to develop game-changing ideas for tackling energy, water and food issues (the “Competition”).

The Competition is accessed via www.shellideas360.com (the “Competition Website”).

The Competition Period is from 3 September 2013 to 31 May 2014.

By registering, you confirm that you have read and unconditionally agree to all of these Terms and Conditions and that you accept any and all of the Promoter’s decisions regarding the Competition as final and binding in all respects. This does not affect your statutory rights.

As between the Promoter and each participant in the Competition all the right, title and interest in and to the intellectual property rights in any materials generated by a participant as part of their involvement in the Competition (“Competition Materials”) shall remain vested in the generating Participant.

You will be able to choose whether your Competition Materials are made public on the Competition Website or are kept private from other participants in the Competition. The Promoter may pass on any Competition Materials submitted by you via the Competition Website to any company within the Shell Group and other third parties involved in the operation, evaluation or judging of the Competition including, for the avoidance of doubt, Shell GameChanger.

All Competition Materials must be in the English language.

For the avoidance of doubt, the Competition is not part of the Shell recruitment process and participation in the Competition will not influence any subsequent application made by a participant for a job, apprenticeship, internship or other training scheme with any company within the Shell Group.

Restrictions on the Export of Technical Information :
Please note that many governments regulate the export or release of certain technology and technical data. Participants must ensure that all Competition Materials submitted to the Competition Website are not subject to controls requiring government authorization for export. For assistance in this determination, contact your University Sponsor.

Eligibility :
Subject to the other provisions of these Terms and Conditions, participation in the Competition is open to any person who (i) is, or will be, aged 18 or over by 31/05/14; and (ii) is currently studying (and is officially registered to continue studying until at least 31/05/2014) as a full time undergraduate or post graduate at a recognized, degree awarding university or other equivalent higher education establishment (an “Eligible Student”). An Eligible Student under the age of 18 or who are not at the age of majority at the time of registration for the Competition must have the consent of his/her parent or legal guardian to accept these terms and conditions and to participate in the Competition.

Current employees, apprentices, trainees, or interns of any Shell Group company are not eligible to participate in the Competition.

For the avoidance of doubt, Eligible Students who are in the process of being recruited for a job, apprenticeship, traineeship, or internship at any Shell Group company will be automatically disqualified if their employment, apprenticeship, traineeship or internship commences any time during the Competition Period.

The Competition is not open to employees, agents, affiliates, officers or directors of the Promoter or of any advertiser, promotion agency, fulfilment agency or agent of the Promoter or of anyone else professionally connected with the Competition.

Eligible Students are not entitled to enter the Competition if they are resident in a country or jurisdiction where the Competition may breach any law or regulation. Where this applies, the Promoter’s invitation to enter the Competition in such country/jurisdiction is withdrawn.

Registration :
Eligible Students wishing to participate in the Competition must each register online on the Competition Website regardless of whether they wish to enter the Competition as a sole individual (an “Individual Participant”) or as part of a team (a “Team Participant”). Individual Participants and Team Participants are together referred to as “Participants”.

An Eligible Student may only register for entry into the Competition once. An Eligible Student may only participate in the Competition either as an Individual Participant or as a Team Participant but not as both.

The registration period for participating in the Competition is from 03 September 2013 – 16 December 2013 inclusive (the “Registration Period”). Internet access is required.

All Participants must provide a valid e-mail address as part of the registration process. Participants are responsible for updating their e-mail address if it changes during the Competition Period.

The Promoter reserves the right to check the validity of the registration information submitted by a Participant at any stage during the Competition and to ask for evidence of student status from the university or equivalent establishment cited by the Participant.

The Promoter also reserves the right to refuse participation, or to disqualify, at any time during the Competition, Participants who have submitted incorrect or misleading information. Participants who do not comply with these terms and conditions may also be disqualified from the Competition without further notice.

Participants will have no recourse against disqualification decisions.

Any Participant not correctly registered by the given deadline will not be able to participate further in the Competition.

For the avoidance of doubt, all times mentioned in the Competition materials are based on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

Teams:
Following registration, an Individual Participant can invite other Eligible Students to form a team (a “Team”). The maximum number of persons in a Team is 3 (three). Teams can only be formed via the Competition Website following individual registration by an Eligible Student. Eligible Students cannot participate in more than one Team. A Participant should only invite another Eligible Student to form a team with them after first having obtained that other Eligible Student’s consent to do so and to use their email address for such purpose. Email addresses entered on the Competition Website during the team invitation process are used solely for the purposes of sending team invitations.

Changes to the composition of a Team can be made at any time up to and including 31 March 2014 via the Competition Website.

Each Team must appoint a main contact point for the Promoter (the “Team Captain”) and emails sent by the Promoter to the email address provided by the Team Captain will be considered delivered to each Team Participant.

Prizes :
Each Individual Participant and Team Participant selected to progress to Stage 2 of the Competition will receive a a one-year subscription to National Geographic, All Access (worth £19). This includes digital editions for iPad®, iPhone® & Kindle Fire™ + Online Archive Subscription is subject to National Geographic terms and conditions.

The Individual Participant or each Team Participant in the Team selected as the winner of the Competition will win a National Geographic Expedition to be taken within one calendar year of the prize being awarded. The National Geographic Expedition will be chosen by the winner from a shortlist of expeditions selected by the Promoter. The prize is subject to acceptance by the Individual Participant/each Team Participant of the terms and conditions relating to the relevant National Geographic Expedition. The approximate value of the prize is US\$10,000 and is dependent on the National Geographic Expedition chosen and the geographical location of a winner.

The Promoter will organise and pay for economy-class travel and reasonable accommodation expenses before and/or after the National Geographic Expedition in order to enable the winner to participate in the National Geographic Expedition.

Each Participant will be wholly responsible for the payment of any tax, insurance, contribution or amount of any kind due (if any) in respect of the award of a prize under the Competition.

The Promoter reserves the right to award additional prizes during or at the end of the Competition.

Prizes are non transferable and there is no cash alternative. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the Promoter reserves the right to offer alternative prizes of equal or greater value.
