The Linux Essentials training program prepares the student to gain competence in the CentOS flavor of Linux. This program is designed for IT professionals and students who are new to Linux and require core Linux skills. This course focuses on administration tasks that will be encountered in the workplace. In addition, GUI-based tools will be featured to build on the students’ existing technical knowledge, while key command line concepts will be introduced to provide a foundation for students planning to become full-time Linux system administrators. A successful trainee will be able properly manage a Linux workstation and server, including installation and configuration of local components and services as well as connections to existing network services including DNS, Apache, SMTP, and network file sharing. This course also emphasizes security which includes monitoring, packet filtering, access controls, and SELinux.

** Deploying network services, including VNC, SSH, FTP, and web services
** Securing files with ACLs and network services with the firewall and SELinux
