Fresh/Re-issue of Passport :
For issue of fresh passport and reissue of passport, you need to fill the application form online via e-Form Submission (preferred) or via Online Form Submission. For Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) also you need to fill the Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) Application Form online via e-Form Submission (preferred) or via Online Form Submission.
Under the new system it is mandatory for all applicants, including infants, to be physically present at the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) to give their biometrics(fingerprints) and photographs.
Steps to apply Online (Normal/Tatkaal) :
Online Form Submission :
Step 1 : Register through the Passport Seva Portal. (Click on “Register” link under the Apply section on the Home Page).
Step 2 : Login to the Passport Seva Portal with the registered Login Id.
Step 3 : Click “Apply for Fresh Passport/Reissue of Passport” link.
Step 4 : Fill in the required details in the form and submit.
Step 5 : Click the “Pay and Schedule Appointment” link on the “View Saved/Submitted Applications” screen to schedule an appointment.
Step 6 : Click the “Print Application Receipt” link to print the application receipt containing Application Reference Number (ARN)/Appointment Number.
Step 7 : Visit the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) where appointment has been booked, along with original documents.
Note :
** Only emergency/medical cases and preapproved categories may visit Passport Seva Kendra without appointment. Service will be provided at the discretion of Passport Seva Kendra in-charge/Passport Officer.
** Minor applicants below 4 years of age need to carry a recent coloured passport size (4.5 x 3.5 cm) photograph with a white background while visiting Passport Seva Kendra. Other applicants need not carry any photograph as photograph will be captured at the Passport Seva Kendra.
** Resubmission of application form is required, in case the applicant does not visit the Passport Seva Kendra within 90 days from the online form submission.
e-Form Submission :
Step 1 : Download the e-Form through the “Download e-Form” link on the Home Page.
Step 2 : Fill the downloaded e-Form and click the Validate & Save button.This will generate an XML file which will be required later for uploading in the system.
Step 3 : Register through the Passport Seva Portal. (Click on “Register” link under the Apply section on the Home Page).
Step 4 : Login to the Passport Seva Portal with the registered Login Id.
Step 5 : Upload the XML file (generated in Step 2) through the “Upload e-Form” link.Do not upload the PDF form at this stage as only XML file is accepted by the system.
Step 6 : Click the “Pay and Schedule Appointment” link on the “View Saved/Submitted Applications” screen to schedule an appointment.
Step 7 : Click the “Print Application Receipt” link to print the application receipt containing Application Reference Number (ARN)/Appointment Number.

Requirement of a Passport :
All Indian citizens who depart or intend to depart from India are required to be in possession of a valid passport or travel document. Under the Passports Act 1967, the Government of India may issue different types of passports and travel documents such as Ordinary Passport, Diplomatic Passport, Official Passport, Emergency Certificate and Certificate of Identity for the purpose.
Passport Application Basic Requirements :
The prescribed passport application duly filled in should be with all prescribed documents and fees. Merely submission of an application, however, does not constitute a claim for issue of a passport. It remains a request/requisition for a passport, which may be rejected due to deficiency in the supporting documents, not following the prescribed procedures or any other reason.
The basic supporting documents required with passport application include :
** Proof of Date of Birth i.e. Birth Certificate, etc
** Identity proof with photograph (to be verified by Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) Officials from the address proof and other documents)
** Proof of residence

Status : PCC application granted on 17/04/2014. Police Verification has been initiated and a request has been sent to SP Office, District Ludhiana City (Ludhiana). After ‘Clear’ Police Verification Report is received at Regional Passport Office, PCC needs to be collected from the Passport Seva Kendra where you applied. You would receive an e-mail/sms once the PCC is ready for collection.

You have to fill up the Passport Application Form and apply for “Reissue of Passport”. You can submit the filled in application form at a Passport Seva Kendra (PSKwith in the jurisdiction of your Passport Office (PO).
You must carry original and self attested photocopy of your expired passport and proof of your address. Fresh police verification is initiated if the passport has expired more than three years ago. Hence, fresh police verification will be required in your case.

How can I apply for a passport online?

If you find any mistake/error in the particulars printed in the passport booklet as per the application form submitted, please return the passport for necessary rectification. Any additional fees required to be paid would depend solely on Assistant Passport Officer (APO)/Passport Issuing Authority (PIA) decision. If there is a misrepresentation of facts, then penalty could also be imposed.
However, applicants are requested to apply online which will ensure that the passports are delivered without any typographical errors since applicants have themselves fed the data.
