National Eligibility Test – December, 2013 for Junior Research Fellowship and Eligibility for Assistant Professor

CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY :
i) Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognised by UGC in Humanities (including languages) and Social Science, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science etc. are eligible for this Test. The Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Persons with disability (PWD) category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test.

ii) Candidates who have appeared OR will be appearing at the qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited OR candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this Test. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible for award of JRF/Assistant Professor eligibility only after they have passed their Master’s degree examination or equivalent with at least 55% marks (50% marks in case of SC/ST/PWD (Persons with disability) category candidates). Such candidates must complete their P.G. degree examination within two years from the date of NET result with required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified.

iii) The Ph.D. degree holders whose Master’s level examination had been completed by 19th September, 1991 (irrespective of date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e., from 55% to 50%) for appearing in NET.

iv) Candidates are advised to appear in the subject of their post-graduation only. The candidates whose post-graduation subject is not covered in the list of subjects in item No. 9, may appear in a related subject.

v) Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer)/PWD category are required to submit attested copy of the category Certificate along with online printout of their Application Forms (obtained while applying on-line). Other candidates are not required to submit any certificates/documents in support of their eligibility along with printout of their Application Form. Therefore, the candidates, in their own interest, must satisfy themselves about their eligibility for the Test. In the event of any ineligibility being detected by the Commission at any stage, their candidature will be cancelled and they shall be liable for legal action.

vi) Candidates having post-graduate diploma/certificate awarded by Indian University/Institute or foreign degree/diploma/certificate awarded by the foreign University/Institute should in their own interest, ascertain the equivalence of their diploma/degree/certificate with Master’s degree of recognized Indian universities from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.

HOW TO APPLY :
STEPS FOR SUBMISSION OF ONLINE APPLICATION FORM :
i) Candidate seeking admission to the Test (UGC-NET, December,2013) must apply online (i.e. www.ugcnetonline.in OR through a link available on the UGC website: www.ugc.ac.in).

ii) Before applying Online, the candidates must possess the Scanned passport size photograph in JPEG format of less than 300 kb.

iii) After filling all the details for applying online for NET, the computer will automatically generate your ‘Bank Challan’ indicating your details therein A print out of this Bank Challan may be taken by the candidate for payment through cash, on the next working day (after generating the challan from ugcnetonline.in) at any branch of State Bank of India (SBI) alongwith bank charges (commission) of Rs.20/-

iv) Two days after the payment of fee at SBI through filled Bank Challan, the candidate is required to check the status of fee payment at UGC website ugcnetonline.in) and if the status is ‘OK’ the candidate will be able to take the printout of online Application Form (one copy), Attendance Slip (one copy) and Admission Card (one copy) on separate A-4 size papers.s.

v) SC/ST/PWD candidates and candidates belonging to OBC (non-creamy layer) (as per the Central list of OBC available on website : www.ncbc.nic.in ) must enclose the attested copy of certificate for the same.

vi) Candidates seeking age relaxation must enclose the certificate of educational qualification/research experience entitling the candidates for age relaxation. (for details, please see item no. 4).

vii) The Application (consisting of one copy of printout of online application form and one copy of Attendance Slip) along with bank challan and other required documents (as mentioned in item No. 13) must reach the Registrar/Principal of the Coordinating Institution on or before 09.11.2013.

viii) The candidates should retain the print out of online Admission card with them and will bring it on the day of examination after affixing the identical passport size photograph. The photograph must be signed across by the candidate after affixing, so that a part of the signature spreads over the Admit Card. Besides, it should be duly attested by the Head of the University Department/ Principal of the College/ class-I Gazetted officer.

ix) It may be noted that no Admission Card will be issued by the respective NET Coordinating Institutions. Candidates are requested to ascertain their venue of the test/seating arrangement from the website of the respective NET Coordinating Institution and note it in their printout of online Admission Card at least 10 days before the Test, i.e. upto 19th December, 2013.

x) The candidates are required to bring a photo identity card also along with their printout of online Admission Card on the day of examination.

xi) It may be pointed out that noting of seating arrangement/venue of test from the website of respective NET Coordinating Institutions will be the sole responsibility of candidate only. The NET Coordinating Institutions will not inform to the candidate separately regarding the seating arrangement/Venue of Test.

xii) Application received after 09.11.2013 at the NET Coordinating Institutions will not be considered.

xiii) Before applying Online, candidates are advised to go through detailed notification available on UGC website (i.e. ugcnetonline.in OR through a link available on the UGC website : ugc.ac.in ). Please note that Fee submitted through any other mode like Money Order, Demand Draft, IPO etc. will be summarily rejected.

xiv) The envelope containing the Application Form should be superscribed “UGC NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY TEST FOR JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP AND ELIGIBILITY FOR ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, DECEMBER, 2013”.

xv) The candidates must affix their recent identical passport size photographs, at the places indicated, on the printout of Online Application Form and Attendance Slip must sign across the photograph after it is affixed so that a part of the signature spreads over the Application Form and Attendance Slip beyond the photograph. Besides, it should be duly attested by the Head of the University Department/ Principal of the College/Class-I Gazetted Officer.

xvi) In order to avoid last minute rush, the candidates are advised to apply early enough. UGC will not be responsible for network problems or any other problem of this nature in submission of online application during last days.

Last date for receiving the printout of online Application Form (one copy) and Attendance Slip (one copy) at the respective Coordinating University opted by the candidate (with fee receipt & category certificate(s) ) : Saturday; November 09, 2013

    1. Candidates are requested to ascertain their venue of the test/seating arrangement from the website of the respective NET Coordinating Institution and note it in their printout of online Admission Card at least 10 days before the Test, i.e. upto 19th December, 2013.

  5. How can I get the ascertaining venue of test after December 19th?

    1. This detail is not available in the website / advertisement.

  6. I did not sign my attendance slip. Was it a mistake? As I was following the asterisk marks which says that it need to be signed on the day of examination. WILL I BE ABLE TO APPEAR FOR MY EXAM? REST I SIGNED IN ALL THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS BEFORE SUBMITTING TO THE COORDINATING INSTITUTION.

    1. I do not think so it will become a big problem since the comment received for seems to say as you need to sign on examination only know.

    1. Please look into the link https://ugcnetonline.in/notification.php for all the test centres.

      Candidates are requested to ascertain their venue of the test/seating arrangement from the website of the respective NET Coordinating Institution and note it in their printout of online Admission Card at least 10 days before the Test, i.e. upto 19th December, 2013.

  8. VENUE OF TEST for NET?

    1. You may be able to get the venue of Test from the website of the respective NET Coordinating Institution for appearing in the UGC-NET till 19th December, 2013.

  9. Please tell me how to get venue.

    1. Those candidates who are not able to find out their seating arrangement/ venue of Test from the website of the respective NET Coordinating Institution for appearing in the UGC-NET till 19th December, 2013, are advised to contact the office of Registrar/Principal/Co-ordinator of their UGC- NET Coordinating Institutions from 20th to 28th December, 2013.

  10. What is the validity of a non creamy layer certificate for UGC net examination?

    1. I could not find details about the validity of non creamy layer certificate for UGC net examination. However the detailed instructions for the candidates will be uploaded on the UGC website http://www.ugcnetonline.in or http://www.ugc.ac.in. during the last week of November, 2013. Candidates may please see the instructions regarding use of Test Booklets, OMR Sheet and Specimen copy of OMR Sheet from the UGC website. It may be noted that instructions to candidates will not be sent to the candidate by post.

  11. Is it mandatory to submit certificate of educational qualification at the time of submitting the form in coordinating institution?

    1. I could not find any details related to submitting certificates in the advertisement. Please contact through official mail id for certificate related queries.
