Result Of National Level Essay Competition – 2014 :
During past two decades, there has been a global surge in adoption of competition policy and economic regulation in developing economies. It is believed that effective competition and independent regulation together contribute to economic growth and welfare, while creating an environment that favours change, innovation and improvement.
With this objective, CUTS Institute for Regulation & Competition (CIRC) had organised a National Level Essay Competition, 2014 in association with NLUD and SILF/SEPC under two broad categories : .
A. Competition Policy & Law and
B. Economic Regulations in India
Last Date:
Entries were invited from Post graduate and Research students from various recognised universities and institutes till March, 31 2014.
Themes:
The essay competition has attracted an impressive number of entries with diverse array of essays exploring different themes. Entries were received from students of various Universities- Ambedkar University –Delhi, National Law University –Delhi, National Law University –Jodhpur, West Bengal National Law University of Judicial Sciences, National University of Study and Research in Law –Ranchi, Christ University –Bangalore etc.
The essays were evaluated on following criteria:
** Title of Essay
** Structure of Essay including Clarity of arguments
** Range of issues discussed
** Level of Analysis
** Use of authorities, references and evidences
** Originality
** Presentation of essay
Winners: Evaluators read each entry without knowing the identity of the writer, and evaluated it both for the quality of writing and for the creative expression of the theme.
Our jury found the following entries credible to be the winners for this competition:
Category A (Competition Law) :
First Prize (Rs. 20,000) :
Garima Shahani / Thomas J Vallianeth (National Law University, Jodhpur)
Second Prize (Rs. 10,000) :
Rohit Sharma (Kurukshetra University and Student of CIRC-NLUD CPL Course)
Third Prize (Rs. 5,000) :
Tie between two participants (Prize will be divided equally)
(i) Pratichi Mishra (National Law University, Delhi) and
(ii) Suraj Kumar Singh (National University of Study and Research in Law, Ranchi).

Category B (Economic Regulations) :

Third Prize (Rs. 5,000) :
We are not awarding any third prize in this category as the remaining entries are not up-to the mark.
Distribution of Prizes :
The Prizes will be awarded to the winners during a function being arranged at National Law University, Delhi in June/July 2014. The winners will be informed shortly.
