Scholarships and Prizes 2014 :
The Directors/Heads of University Departments, Principals of affiliated Colleges, Heads of the recognized Institutions and the Assistant Registrar, University Sub-Centre at Ratnagiri, are hereby informed that Scholarships/Prizes mentioned in the enclosed list are to be awarded at the various examinations held in the first half of the year 2014 to eligible candidates and they are requested to bring the details of these to the notice of the students belonging to their Departments/Colleges/Institutions/Centres. It is necessary under the terms and conditions relating to these scholarships and prizes, for the candidates to apply for the respective scholarships and prizes. Such applications duly recommended and forwarded by the Head of the Institutions should be received in the Scholarships Section, University of Mumbai, Room No.35, First Floor, M. J. Phule Bhavan, Vidyanagari, Santacruz (East), Mumbai – 400 098, on working days (not on Second & Fourth Saturdays also) between 11.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and 1.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. from 1st July, 2014onwards.
Deadline :
Last date for receipt of applications is 30th August, 2014.
Note :
No awards of these scholarships and prizes shall be made without such applications.
They are, therefore, requested to forward applications of their students, if any accordingly.
H.S.C. Examination :
01. The Mane Satkar Scholarship :
Value : Rs.350/- tenable for 1 year
Awarded annually to a candidate who secures the highest number of marks on the aggregate at the H.S.C. examination of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (Mumbai Divisional Board) from among the applicants who are sons/daughters, Wards of persons who, in the area of Greater Mumbai, are in the occupation involving manual labour, provided the income of their parent’s/guardian’s does not exceed Rs.2,000/- per month.
02. The Late Rao Saheb Vishwanath Narayan Mandlik Prize :
Value : Rs.125/- in books
Awarded annually to a candidate who secures the highest number of marks on the aggregate at the H.S.C. examination of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (Mumbai Divisional Board) or the B.Sc. degree examination of this University from among the applicants whose parent’s/guardian’s income does not exceed Rs.2,000/- per month, on condition that he/she pursue his/her studies for the First Year Course of Study for any of the first degree in the Faculty of Technology of this University.
T.Y.B.A. Examination :
03. The Dr. R. V. Bhagwat Prize :
Value : Rs.630/- in cash
Awarded annually to a candidate who secures the highest number of marks on the aggregate from among the applicants who are sons/daughters of teachers in degree colleges affiliated to this University, provided the candidate pass the T.Y.B.A. examination at the first attempt. Applicants are required to forward certificate to the effect that they are sons/daughters of teachers in degree colleges affiliated to this University.
T.Y.B.A. Examination :
04. The Late Rao Saheb Vishwanath Narayan Mandlik Prize.
Value : Rs.125/- in books
Awarded annually to a candidate who secures the highest number of marks on the aggregate at the T.Y.B.A. examination from among the applicants, whose parent’s/guardian’s income does not exceed Rs.2,000/- per month condition that he/she pursue his/her studies for the M.A. degree examination.
M.A. Examination :
05. The Sir Lawrence Jenkins Scholarship :
Value : Rs.330/- p.a. tenable for 2 years
Awarded annually to a candidate who secures the highest number of marks on the aggregate at M.A. degree examination from among the candidates who apply for the scholarship, on condition that he/she pursue his/her studies for the LL.B. or LL.M. degree examination at Law College of this University. Failing a candidate of the M.A. degree examination, the scholarship is awarded to a candidate who secures the highest number of marks on the aggregate at the T.Y.B.A. degree examination from among the candidates who apply for the scholarship, on the condition mentioned above.
T.Y.B.Com. Examination :
06. The Dr. R. V. Bhagwat Prize :
Value : Rs.630/- in cash
Awarded annually to a candidate who secures the highest number of marks on the aggregate from among the applicants who are the sons/daughters of teachers in degree colleges affiliated to this University, provided the candidate passes the T.Y.B.Com. examination at first attempt. Applicants are required to forward the certificate to the effect that they are sons/daughters of teachers in degree colleges affiliated to this University.
07. The Late Bai Annapurnabai Vishwanath Mandlik Prize :
Value : Rs.125/- in books
Awarded annually to a candidate who secures the highest number of marks on the aggregate at the T.Y.B.Com. examination from among the applicants whose parent’s/guardian’s income does not exceed Rs.2,000/- per month, on condition that he/she pursue his/her studies for the M.Com. degree examination.
T.Y.B.Sc. Examination :

Awarded annually to a candidate who secures the highest number of marks on the aggregate from among the applicants who are the sons/daughters of teachers in degree colleges affiliated to this University, provided the candidate passes the T.Y.B.Sc. examination at the first attempt. Applicants are required to forward certificate to the effect that they are sons/daughters of teachers in degree college affiliated to this University.

10. The Late Shridhar Vishwanath Limaye Scholarship :
Value : Rs.742/- p.a. for 2 years
Awarded annually to a candidate who secures the highest number of marks on the aggregate in any of the Major subject at the T.Y.B.Sc. examination, from among the candidates and whose parent’s/guardian’s income does not exceed Rs.2,000/- per month and who apply for the Scholarship on condition that he/she pursue his/her studies for the M.Sc. degree examination.
First Year Engineering Examination :
11. The Kahandas Muncharam Scholarship :
Value : Rs.200/- tenable for 1 year
Awarded annually to a candidate who secures the highest number of marks on the aggregate at the F.E. examination from among the *Gujarati Hindu candidates who apply for the scholarship, on condition that he/she pursue his/her studies for the B.E. degree examination.
Note :
* For the purpose of this scholarship, the term ‘Gujarati Hindu’ is to be deemed to include a Jain
Third Year Architecture Examination :
12. The Late Shri V. S. Gore Memorial Scholarship.
Value : Rs.500/- tenable for 1 year
Awarded annually to a candidate who secures the highest number of marks on the aggregate at the examination from among the candidates who apply for the scholarship, provided the total family income of the candidate does not exceed Rs.2,000/- per month.
Fourth Year Architecture Examination :
13. The Late Shri V. S. Gore Memorial Scholarship :
Value : Rs.500/- tenable for 1 year
Awarded annually to a candidate who secures the highest number of marks on the aggregate at the examination from among the candidates who apply for the scholarship, provided the total family income of the candidate does not exceed Rs.2,000/- per month.
First LL.B. (Gen.) / LL.B. Examination :

Value : Rs.125/- in books
Awarded annually to a candidate who secures the highest number of marks on the aggregate at the First LL.B.(Gen.)/LL.B. examination from among the applicants whose parent’s/guardian’s income does not exceed Rs.2,000/- per month, on condition that he/she pursue his/her studies for the Second LL.B.(Gen.)/LL.B. examination.
15. The Nandashankar Parvatishankar Dave Scholarship :
(Value : Rs.120/- p.a., tenable for 1 year)
Awarded annually to a candidate who secures the highest number of marks on the aggregate from among the Vadanagara Vaidik Nagar Brahmans, native of the Surat District, who apply for the scholarship at the First LL.B.(Gen.)/LL.B. examination on condition that he/she pursue his/her studies for the Second LL.B.(Gen.)/LL.B. degree examination. Failing such a candidate to be awarded to the candidate who secures the highest number of marks on the aggregate from among the Vadanagara Vaidik Nagar Brahmins of Gujarat, Kathiawar, Kuchha & other places in that order who apply for the scholarship.
Diploma In Music (H.V.C) Examination :
16. The Sant Kumar Bajoria Scholarship :
Value : Rs.1,000/- tenable for 1 year
Awarded annually to a candidate who secures the highest number of marks on the aggregate at the examination from among the candidates who apply for the scholarship, on condition that he/she pursue his/her studies for the B.F.A.(Music) degree examination, provided the income of his/her parent’s/guardian’s does not exceed Rs.2,000/- per month.
LL.B. Degree Examination:
17. The Sir Mangaldas Nathubhai Legal Scholarship.
Value: Rs.800/- p.a., for two years
Awarded every even year to the candidate who secures the highest number of marks among applicants at the LL.B. degree examination, on condition that he/she pursue his/her studies for the LL.M. degree by paper.
