Renewal of “N” Family Card for the Year – 2013 & 2014
Dear Family Ration Card holder,

The ‘white’ and ‘yellow’ family cards that are valid till December 31 can be renewed online or at the monthly meeting organised by the Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection.
In a statement, Collector M. Karunakaran said validity of ration cards that ended on December 31, 2012 were extended to December 31, 2013 by attaching additional papers so that the consumers could get the essential commodities till December 31, 2014.
The validity of ‘white’ and ‘yellow’ family cards that could be used only as a proof for identity and residential address could be extended by visiting the website
After the card number is registered on this website, letter ‘N’ will be generated which should be printed and pasted on the ration card.
The cards could be renewed from November 11 to January 31

There seems to be two types of white cards.
1) All Commodity cards (Green colour): are issued to those cardholders opting for rice as well as all other essential commodities.
2) Sugar cards ( White) : are issued to cardholders opting for sugar instead of rice. Cardholders can buy all other essential commodities, except rice. Sugar card holders are eligible to get an additional 3 kg. of sugar in lieu of rice.
3) No commodity cards (White) : are issued to cardholders who do not want any commodity under Public Distribution System.
11N0006790 – I assume that, No Commodity card will have “N” in the card no. Though your card is white, you have “W” in your card no, which means you are eligible to buy ration( up to you whether you are buying or not). In your case, you( ration card holder) wil have to submit xerox copy of the existing card in person in your regular ration shop to get it renewed

You need not renew your card, your card is sugar card. Renewal is for white card holders who do not want any commodity under Public Distribution System. I think your card is already renewed until December 2014. You can see the page pasted for this in your card.

The card number as printed on my ration card is 17/W/0046924 and accordingly the card number entered was 17W0046924(as suggested against help indication.) There is one more registration number on the ration card 1244.

The given link is not working and when submit button is pressed, it is not processed. I tried this website many times but still irrelevant font displayed over there.
The solution to the font problem lies in installing the tamil fonts.

Government websites are bound to be down often due to server load. It might be a one off case like that.

My card has been changed in to None card “N” card on 09.03.2006 and was renewed last year. Now I tried to renew through online but it does not accept. Please clarify as to how to renew the card?

2. Please enter your Card Number to get validity Extension Slip
3. Select your Family Card Type i.e White Colored None Card or Yellow Colored Tatkal Card
4. Enter your comments
5. Click Submit button.
