Educational Scholarship Scheme For Serving Army Personnel (ESSA) 2014 :
Education Scholarship Scheme for Army Personnel (ESSA) has been reviewed and important aspects are enumerated in succeeding paras.

Eligibility :
The eligibility conditions would be as under : –
(a) Serving Army personnel children from class IX to PG level of education provided the children have not attained 25 years of age at the time of completion of class/course.
(b) Wards of Retired Army Personnel, Military Nursing Service (MNS), Territorial Army personnel (TA) and deceased Army personnel are not eligible.

Rates of Scholarships :
The rates of scholarships, based on the level of education for all categories are as under : –
(a) Class IX to XII – Rs 1500/- per annum.
(b) Graduation – Rs 2500/- per annum
(c) Professional/PG courses – Rs 6000/- per annum.

Timeframe
The applications should pertain to the declared results of the immediate preceding academic year between 01 Oct of the preceding year and 30 Sep of the current year ie 01 Oct 2013 to 30 Sep 2014. As per SAO 2/S/2011 the last date for receipt of applications at HQ AWES is 30 Nov 2014

Application Procedure :
1. Award of Scholarships under Education Scholarship Scheme for Sewing Army Personnel (ESSA) for the Academic Year 2013-14 has been reviewed by Army HQ (AWES), New Delhi and important aspects of the same are enumerated in succeeding paras.
(a) Only wards of serving Offrs and JCOs/OR are eligible for this scholarship scheme.
(b) Wards of Retired Army Personnel, Military Nursing Service, Territorial Army Personnel and deceased Army Personnel are not eligible.
(c) Application in respect of wards of Defence Security Corps (DSC) personnel will be accepted through their record office only.
(d) Cut off percentages are given below and only children above cut off percentages would be awarded scholarships :-
(i) Wards of Officers – 75%
(ii) Wards of JCOs – 75%
(iii) Wards of OR – 60%
(e) The rates of scholarships for all categories will be Rs. 6000/- per annum and will be paid through multi city cheques drawn on the name of parents of successful candidates. Merit Certificate will be given to all ESSA scholarship awardees by Army HQ (AWES).
(f) Serving Army Offr’s JCOs and OR are required to submit applications duly scrutinized by their respective Commanding Officers/Head of Departments before 30 Nov 2% on the following address. Application for the said Scholarship will not be accepted/dispatched bv the institute under any circumstances.

Note :
1 : Only one copy of application along with photocopy of marks sheet duly attested by the Principal is required to be submitted. ManipulationLdownloaded mark sheet/result will not be accepted. All columns mentioned in the application are mandatory and should be filled properly.Application may be rejected in the absence of mandatory information. (Copy of application is attached).

2. Application forms for Education Scholarship (ESSA) will be available with Institute’s Xerox Centre. Eligible students may get application forms from Xerox Centre.

Times of India Merit Scholarship :
R&W Section, CW Dte dealing with M/s Times of India scholarship allots the vacancies for higher merit bracket to the wards of serving Army personnel for professional courses ie Engineering, Medical, MBA, MCA, Mass Communication, Journalism, Advertisement, Sales Management, Marketing through ESSA. No separate application is required for award of this Scholarship.

Mode of Payment :
The of ESSA scholarship will be paid through multi city cheques drawn on the name of parents of successful candidates.

Merit Certificate :
Merit certificate will be given to all ESSA scholarship awardees by this office. Miscellaneous Points
