Applications are open for 2014-15 one year fellowship program 24/03/2014 – 13/05/2014
Bachpan Banao is offering a one year fellowship with the mission to empower the community and various stakeholders towards improving the education system in rural/tribal areas. As part of the fellowship we invite young professionals and graduates to live with the community and facilitate the process of change. The idea is to help the administration and community help identify their issues in education and come up with a solution. In the meantime we are also focusing on empowering local human resources through a mentoring program. The vision of the program resonates with Mahatma Gandhi’s belief in community ownership for overall development of the society.
We look for applicants who will have a transformational impact on their schools in the short-term and be leaders in the fight for social inequity beyond the Fellowship.
** Age between 21-35 years at the time of application.
** Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in any relevant discipline.
** Fluency in written and spoken Hindi
** Basic English speaking skills
** Excellent communication and presentation skills.
** The ability to support and manage a team.
ROLE OF A BACHPAN BANAO MENTOR FELLOW:
The Mentor Fellow will be wearing multiple hats, however the key responsibilities are as following:
** Mentoring ‘Community fellow’ and working with him/her to create a model school with the help of community, staff and other stakeholders
** Incharge for one class as class teacher.
** Assisting in-charge/principal in daily classroom administration
** Implementation and adherence to the school academic calendar
** Monitoring CCE work at School level
** Teachers training and RCI certification for CWS ( Children with Special Needs)
** Creation, implementation and resource allocation for the annual school extra curricular activities plan
** Helping the incharge/ principal in school/office management activities
** School Management Committee
** Implementation and adherence of standard school operations.eg: Daily school assembly, teacher attendance and adherence to various timings, infrastructure issues and management, hostel and food management, etc..
** Digitization of school administrative and academic records.
** Remedial Teaching during evening hours
Selection Procedure:
Each applicant will go through 3 stages:

2. Telephonic Round
3. Face to Face interview: Tentative locations are: Raipur, Hyderabad, Pune
Please note that since we are working in areas where primary language is Hindi , both the telephonic and face to face interviews will be in Hindi and English both depending upon applicants’ fluency.

Fellowship Begins: 15th June, 2014.
Orientation and Bootcamp: 15th -25th June
