Voyoshrestha Sammans” National Award 2014 :
Invitation of applications for the National Awards 2014 – “VOYOSHRESTHA SAMMANS” to Eminent Senior Citizens and Institutions involved in rendering distinguished services for the cause of elderly.

Application were invited by this Ministry for the National Awards – 2014 “Voyoshrestha Sammans” to Eminent Senior Citizens and Institutions involved in rendering distinguished services for the cause of elderly to be given on 1st October,2014. The last date for inviting applications has now been extended up to 30.04.2014

Applications are invited for the National Awards for senior citizens and institutions under each of the following categories :-
Institutional Category :
(i) Best Institution for Research in the field of Ageing;
(ii) Best Institution for providing Services to Senior Citizens and Awareness Generation;
(iii) Best District Panchayat in providing services and facilities to Senior Citizens;
(iv) Best Urban Local Body in providing services and facilities to Senior Citizens;
(v) Best State in implementing the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act,2007, and providing services and facilities to Senior Citizens;
(vi) Best Private Sector Organization in promoting the well being and welfare of senior citizens; and
(vii) Best Public Sector Organization in promoting the well being and welfare of senior citizens.

Individual Category :
(i) Centenarian;
(ii) Iconic Mother;
(iii) Lifetime Achievement;
(iv) Creative Art;
(v) Sports and Adventure (one each for Male and ); and
(vi) Courage & Bravery (one each of Male and ).

2. Applications are invited from senior citizens, institutions, and organization fulfilling the prescribed criteria. The applications should be in Hindi or English only. Criteria laid down for each of the above categories of awards, and full details of the Scheme of National Awards, 2014 may be seen on the website of the Ministry URL http://socialjustice.nic.in/Home/Index.

3. The applications of those employed in the Central/State Governments/Union Territory Administrations/Public Sector Undertaking should be sent in the prescribed proforma(either in Hindi or in English only) through the Ministry/Department/State Government/Union Territory Administration/Public Sector Undertaking concerned duly recommended by the competent authority in such Govt./Administration/Undertaking.

4. In case of others(including self-employed and those in private sector organizations/unorganized sector), applications should be routed through and recommended by, one of the following :-
** Department of the concerned State Government/Union Territory Administration, dealing with matter relating to senior citizens;
** Central Ministry/Department and their autonomous organizations dealing with the relevant subject or areas;
** Past recipients of Padma Award, Vayoshreshtha Samman and other National Awards in both individual and institution categories;
** Member o the National Council of Senior Citizens(NCSrC);
** Renowned Apex Chambers like Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Confederation of Indian Industry, Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industry, National Association of Software and Service Companies, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry etc. and

Any other category of persons or institutions authorized by the Ministry from time to time.

5. Applications not routed in the manner provided in paras 2 to 4 above will not be considered for the National Awards,2014.

6. Applications in the prescribed proforma should be accompanied by the following :-
Two passport size photographs(in the case of individuals), Bio-data, along-with summary of achievements and documents in support thereof; and Draft Citation(not exceeding one page).

7. The applications duly recommended and completed in all respect & may be sent to:
