Admissions – 2014 From the academic year 2014-15, the Institute will offer M.Sc. programmes instead of MA programmes

Rules and Procedures for Admission to M.Sc. programmes :
Eligibility :
Admission to M.Sc. (Economics), M.Sc. (Financial Economics) and M.Sc. (Agribusiness Economics) is open to all graduates subject to minimum 50% marks in the aggregate (45% for reserved category candidates) at graduation.

Entrance Examination :
Candidates seeking admission to the M. Sc. programs at the Institute shall be required to appear for an Entrance Examination, to be held on Sunday, June 8, 2014. The Entrance Examination will comprise the following components: (a) Analytical Ability, (b) Knowledge of Elementary Economics, and (c) Aptitude in Mathematics and Statistics. For sample questions of Entrance Examination.

Admission to the M. Sc. programs shall be granted strictly on the basis of merit in the Entrance Examination.

Procedure for Admission :
Students seeking admission to the M. Sc. Degree Programmes are required to visit www.gipe.ac.in, fill in the application form for Entrance Examination as per instructions detailed therein, and submit the application form online. The candidates are required to take a print of the Application Form submitted online, and mail the Hard Copy of Application Form by Speed Post to the Institute along with application fee of`Rs. 1,750/-(Rs 870/- for reserved category candidates domiciled in Maharashtra, for M.Sc.Economics only) payable by Demand Draft in favour of Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, payable at Pune.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS: The applicants shall be required to clearly stipulate in the application form their order of preference for the programmes, if any. For example, if a student gives first preference to M.Sc. (Economics), second to M.Sc. (Financial Economics) and third to M.Sc. (Agribusiness Economics), then he/she should write number 1 in the box provided against M.Sc. (Economics), number 2 against M.Sc. (Financial Economics) and number 3 against M.Sc. (Agribusiness Economics). If a student has only two preferences then he/she should fill only two boxes and keep one blank.

No change in the preference will be accepted after the submission of the application form. Admission to a particular programme shall be offered on the basis of the merit of the student in the Entrance Examination, preference/s indicated by him/her, and vacant seats available for that programme. In case of any dispute, the decision of the Admissions Committee of the Institute shall be final and binding.

Last Date for Receipt of Application Forms :
The duly filled in application forms, along with attested photocopies of the relevant documents and application fee should reach the Registrar, Gokhale Institute of Politics & Economics (Deemed to be University), 846, Shivajinagar, Pune 411004, (Maharashtra) on or before Friday, May 23, 2014 during office hours (9.30 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.).
Candidates who have appeared for the final degree examination during 2013-14 and are awaiting results, are also eligible to apply. However, in order to be considered for admission to the programme, their results must be conveyed by the respective universities to the Institute, preferably by fax/speed-post, on or before Friday, 27th June, 2014. Students may request their respectiveuniversities to dispatch their results to the Institute in confidence, in case declaration of results is delayed beyond the last date stipulated by the Institute.

Testimonials to be submitted along with the Application Form :
Applicants are required to submit certified true copies of the following certificates along with the application form:
S.S.C./Matriculation certificate as proof of date of birth.
Statement of marks of all courses at the graduation examination, covering two or three years, as the case may be.
Graduation Certificate/Statement of Marks/Transcript, or, if the result is awaited, certificate from the institution to that effect.
Caste Certificate/Domicile Certificate issued by the competent authority (for reserved category candidates).
Candidates belonging to Jammu &Kashmir should submit Domicile Certificate issued by the competent authority of that State.
For Physically Handicapped (PH)category candidates, Certificate of Disability issued by the competent authority.

Candidates shall submit the following certificates at the time of admission:
Transfer Certificate and Migration Certificate
Valid Non-Creamy Layer certificate for OBC, SBC, NT
Candidates admitted to the Programmesshall be required to produce original certificates and statements of marks at the time of joining the Programme.

Entrance Examination :
The Entrance Examination for admission to the M.Sc.and PGDL&E programmes at the Institute will be held on Sunday, 8th June, 2014, from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. The medium of the Entrance Examination will be English.

The Entrance Examination will be conducted at the centres specified below. Candidates should specify their choice of centre while filling up the application form. No request for change in the examination centre will be entertained thereafter.

Candidates are required to report at the reception of respectivecolleges at 9.00 a.m. on the day of the Entrance Examination.

Students taking the Entrance Examination at Pune and desirous of seeking accommodation in the hostels of the Institute should send their request for accommodation well in advance. Accommodation shall be provided at the rate of Rs. 350/- per day per person, subject to availability.
