M.Phil/Ph.D. Admission Notification :
Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat announces holding of Entrance Examinations for eligibility for admission to Degree of Doctor of Philosophy/Master of Philosophy for the Year 2014.

(1) Name of the Course : Ph.D. Course
Eligibility:
Master Degree with at least 55% from OPEN/SEBC category (50% in the case of SC/ST/PH candidates) from this or any other university recognized by the U.G.C. The Student from Medical faculty may be considered who have passed the M. D. / M.S. or M. Sc. ( Medical) Degree examination from this or any other university recognized by the M. C. I. Those student who have Diploma Degree in Medicine Faculty, they shall have minimum 1 (one) year professional experience for the said subject.
State Medical Council/MCI registration is a precondition for appearing for Ph.D. Entrance Exam 2014 (In Medical Faculty) and its proof should be submitted.

(2) Name of the Course : M.Phil Course
Eligibility:Master Degree with at least 55% from OPEN/SEBC category (50% in the case of SC/ST/PH candidates) from this or any other university recognized by the U.G.C.

Subject available:
(a) For Ph.D. Course Subject, No. of Seats is mention in Annexure-1 :
Exemption: For Ph.D. Entrance Test :
A candidate who has passed the UGC / CSIR (JRF) Examination / GATE / teacher fellowship or M.Phil or National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC/CSIR, Gujarat State Level Eligibility Test (GSLET) conducted by appropriate authority or any other test conducted by any institution approved by UGC will be exempted from appearing in the Eligibility Test of Ph.D. But, such candidates shall be required to submit their application for Ph.D. study along with the prescribed fee of Rs.300/- on or before the last date mentioned in this advertisement. Otherwise, their claim will not be considered.

(b)For M. Phil. Course:
Science Faculty : Aquatic Biology, Bioscience, Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics, Statistics Chemistry,
Arts Faculty: Economics, Education, English, Gujarati, Hindi, History, HRD, Management, Psychology, Public Administration, Sanskrit, Sociology, Journalism & Mass Communication,
Computer Science & Info. Tech.: Computer Science Rural Studies Faculty : Rural Studies Commerce Faculty: Commerce/Accountancy.
Note: Further the number of seats of M. Phil. Course will be decided by the University as per the vacant seats, Guides, Laboratory and other facilities available.

Allotment of Seats :
(a) For Ph.D. Course:
1. 50% weightage for JRF/NET/SLET/M.Phil, the rest of 50% weightage will be given to Entrance Test.
2. JRF students will be admitted first.
3. In case of M. Phil./NET/SLET/GATE Students if the No. of Candidates are more than the total No. of Seats. the Seats will be allotted based on external marks of P.G. degree.
4. In case of P.G. students, seats will be allotted based on the performance entrance test.
5. No student can claim the final Admission merely on the basis of JRF/NET/GATE/SLET/M.Phil or Clearance of Entrance Test. The Admission shall be Strictly given on the basis satisfactory presentation/Interview of their Research Proposal/Research Problem and Subsequent approval by the Research Studies Committee (RSC).
6. The Students can apply in concerned interdisciplinary Subjects. The Final decision of such students shall be decided by the concerned RSC or BUT.
7. If the reserved category Seats remain Vacant than it may be transferred to open category. So students of all category are advised to apply even if there is no vacancy in particular category.
(b) For M.Phil. Course: Merit list of M.Phil Course will be prepare by obtaining the Marks of the Entrance Test on the basis of P.G. Subject or whatever the procedure decided by the University Authority.

Fee:
The Application fees of M.Phil./Ph.D. Course of all categories of candidates is Rs.300/- only by cash or through the D.D. only.
The Demand Draft should be sent in favor of Registrar, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, payable at Surat on or before 10/04/2014 by 4:00 p.m. Fees once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances

Scheme and Syllabus for Ph.D. Course: The test shall consist of the requirement of proficiency and skill in ‘Research Aptitude’, ‘Language of Communication’ (English Language only) and the ‘knowledge of the Concerned Subject’.

How to Apply :
i) The Application forms will be accepted on or before 10/04/2014 by 4:00 pm during working hours at the Postgraduate Section (Room No.-121) The date of Entrance Examination of Ph.D./M.Phil 2014 will be declare after 1st week of May-2014 and Course related eligibility & other information will be on University web site

ii) The application form may be downloaded from the University website. The duly filled in application form shall be accepted in person at Postgraduate Section, University during 11.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. on all working days along with the necessary fees of Rs. 300/-.

iii) Candidates must affix their recent passport size color photograph at places indicated in the Application form & Admit card.

Attachment of application for M. Phil/Ph. D. Course:
(1) The student have to submit all mark sheet of Graduate, Post Graduate and M.Phil. (if applicable) Examinations.
(2) Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribes (ST)/Physically Handicapped (PH)/Socially and Economically Backward Class (SEBC) must attach attested copy of necessary certificates and Latest non creamy layer certificate (i.e. issued after 01/04/2013) in case of SEBC candidate with the application form.
(3) Applicant who is eligible for entrance exam of M.Phil/Ph.D. Course shall have to submit his/her application with a Self addressed Envelope (cover) (size 10″ x 4″) with Postal stamp of worth Rs. 10/-
Note: The Certificate of OBC will not be considered for SEBC category.
