Position: Project Manager (Pilot Research Project for Tomato Production in Ghana)
Company Description: Created to the worthy cause of developing, promoting and commercialising technologies emanating from R&D organisations, National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), an enterprise of Deptt. Of Scientific & Industrial Research, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India is providing yeomen service to large number of industries especially to micro, small and medium scale companies that result in employment generation as well as maximum utilisation of local resources. Equipped with repository of large number of technologies NRDC is acting as a prime catalyst in augmenting the process of socio-economic development to many nations both developed and under developed.
Project Description: The Corporation has been assigned by Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to conduct the problem oriented applied research in agro-climatic regions of Ghana with a view to evolve effective cultivation techniques and measures to achieve higher yield of good quality tomato under Ghana conditions.
Location: 3 locations in Ghana
Job Function: Setting up Pilot Research Project for Tomato Production in Ghana. The research work is to be carried out on the following aspects:
1. Identification of appropriate varieties of tomato.
2. Testing of high yielding varieties with superior quality / resistance to various diseases and insect-pest through integrated efforts
3. Develop Seed multiplication system
4. Nursery raising management and planting method
5. Disease management in tomato nursery
6. Insect pest and disease management in tomato crop
7. Standardization of agro-techniques i.e. method of planting, plant geometry, planting time, fertilizer application, super absorbent hydrogel application, training, pruning & stacking, irrigation method & schedule for efficient use of water, etc.
8. Standardization of post-harvest technologies
Qualification: M. Sc. / M. Tech / Ph. D in Agriculture / horticulture
Desirable Agriculture Land scaping
Project Manager: To manage the project, in Ghana we require a dynamic Project Manager with background and experience in having worked in a challenging environment for development-oriented / agricultural projects. In a particular, we are looking for the following strengths in his work experience
** Execution of projects in Agriculture Sector
** Planning and Management of projects schedule
** Execution of various projects as an independent consultant
** International exposure including business development
** Should be able to drive the project
** Coordination with C&F agent & Customs at Ghana
** Plant layout for field trials
** Erection & commissioning of Green House and nursary
Total work experience: Min 5 years
Age: 30 to 40 years; Age & Experience are relaxable in exceptional cases
Remuneration: US $ 3,000 per month at Ghana or INR 40,000 per month in India (All inclusive)
Mode of International Travel: Economy Class
Period of contract: Two years with provision for subsequent extension
