NCO SYLLABUS :
Class 2 :
The actual test paper has 35 questions. Time allowed : 60 minutes. There are 3 sections: 5 questions in section I, 10 in section II and 20 in section III.
Syllabus :
Section – I (Mental Ability): Numerals and Number Names (3digit numbers), Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication as Repeated Addition, Temperature, Time, Calendar, Measurement of Length and Weight, Geometrical Shapes, Money.
Section – II (Logical and Analytical Reasoning) : Problems Based on Figures, Odd One Out, Series Completion, Coding-Decoding, Mathematical Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning.
Section – III (Computers and IT) : Introduction to Computers, General Information about Computers, Parts of Computer, Uses of Computer, Learning to use Keyboard and Mouse, Introduction to MS-Paint, Latest Developments in the field of IT.
Questions are based on Windows 7 and MS-Office 2010.
What is the structure and pattern of the examination?
The level-1 competition is a written objective-type test of 60 minutes duration comprising 35 Multiple Choice questions for class 2 to class 4 and 50 questions from class 5 to class 12.
Question paper will have three sections:
Section I – Mental Ability
Section II – Logical and Analytical Reasoning
Section III – Computer and Information Technology
Section IV – Achiever’s Section
Section 1 to 3 Each correct answer carries 1 mark.
Section 4 Class 1 to 4 each correct answer carries 2 mark.
Section 4 class 5 to 12 each correct answer carries 3 marks There is no negative marking.

Class 1 :
The actual test paper has 35 questions. Time allowed : 60 minutes. There are 2 sections: 10 questions in section I and 25 in section II.
Syllabus :
Section – I (Mental Ability): Numerals, Number Name and Number Sense (2 digit numbers), Addition, Subtraction, Length, Weight, Time, Money, Geometrical Skills, Patterns, Odd One Out, Series Completion, Problems Based on Figures.
Section – II (Science) : Plants, Animals, Human Beings and Their Needs, Good Habits and Safety Rules, Air and Water, Weather and the Sky.
What is the structure and pattern of the examination?
The competition is a written test of 60 minutes duration comprising of objective-type (Multiple Choice) questions. Each correct answer carries one mark. There will be a separate question paper for each class. The question paper will consists of two sections.

The British Council is extremely happy to be collaborating with SOF on providing the tests for the International English Olympiad.
The tests for each level, although take into consideration the syllabus for each school year, are not directly related to them. The content of the tests is designed to focus on communication and use of English language, rather than rote learning and correct grammar only.
