NLEC’14 or National Legal Essay Competition is the flagship event organised by AILSA. It provides a platform to the students enrolled in law schools and colleges all over the country to express their views on topics based on different avenues of the legal field.
NLEC offers an educational exposure through a research based learning approach. It encourages research in the emerging areas of law among the participants. In view of this approach, the topics provided are broad, interesting and diverse. This shall enable the participants to choose from a wide range of issues and will boost the level of participation as well.
AILSA has tried to go beyond the mundane subjects to throw light on the dynamic facets of law, and students by way of participating in this competition would be able to enhance their overall personality and hone their professional skills.
Therefore, AILSA brings forward a golden opportunity through NLEC ’14 for law students nationwide to be a part of an enriching and resourceful learning experience.

Rules for Submission :
** The word limit for the essay is 3000 – 6000 words (excluding footnotes).
** The cover page of the submission should contain the following details only:
** Unique Submission Number
** Title of the Essay
** Abstract of the Essay (250 words)
** The cover page and/or main body of the essay should not carry any mention of the name, contact details, or the name of the institution. In any other case, it shall lead to immediate disqualification.
** Co-authorship to a maximum of 2 individual authors is permitted.
** Format of submission should be as per the rules of the competition.
It shall be required from each person to submit 3 hard copies, along with 1 soft copy on CD/USB Drive; to be sent to the following address:** **

** The soft copy of the essay should be submitted in MS Word file (.doc/.docx).
** All students are expected to acknowledge the primary source(s) of information.
** Multiple entries by an individual shall not be permitted, and shall lead to disqualification.
** Last date of Submission shall be 15th April 2014.
** The result for the competition shall be declared on 31st May 2014.
General Rules :
The competition shall be open to all students pursuing the 3-year or 5-year Law Course from any institution recognised by the Bar Council of India, in India.
Any essay found to be plagiarized shall be disqualified. (Max. limit 10%)
Winning essays shall be published in the AILSA Annual Journal.
The participants are responsible for the originality of the work and agree to indemnify AILSA from and against any claims, suits and damages based on any claim of copyright infringement or plagiarism or unauthorized use.
If at any point in time it comes to light that an infringement or plagiarism has taken place the certificates issued will be revoked, the prize called back & the said occurrence will be mentioned on the web and through media.
Any previously published material shall not be accepted.
Footnotes may not be substituted as end notes, for it shall lead to disqualification.
In case of a tie, the decision shall be reserved by NLEC Core Team.
Each person shall be required to fill the Online Form to obtain his/her USN, and send duly filled-up registration form, available for download on the website.
