Challenge Yourself India 2014 :
The Challenge :
Show your skills and prove your ambition, start your career at an English-taught Master’s programme in Sweden autumn 2014.

The competition consists of a number of steps testing your skills, knowledge and motivation.

Step 1 : Sign up
Register for the challenge at www.challengeyourself.in. Log in using the email and password combination you used to register.

Step 2 : IQ quiz
The first quiz will test you analytical and logical reasoning skills with an IQ quiz consisting of 10 questions.

Step 3 : Sweden-India quiz
Quiz with multiple-choice questions that will assess your knowledge of Swedish society and aspects of higher education, industry, innovation and Sweden-India relations.

Step 4 : Choose university and Master’s programme
Select one of the two universities and corresponding Master’s programmes. You can choose only one programme, so make sure you have done prior research and are ready to choose a university and Master’s programme that suits your profile.

Chalmers University of Technology :
Master’s programme in Systems, Control and Mechatronics
Master’s programme in Communication Engineering

Linköping University :
Master’s programme in Statistics
Master’s programme in Biomedical Engineering
Master’s programme in Communication Systems

Step 5 : Tech quiz
Quiz with multiple-choice questions that will assess your knowledge on topics related to your chosen university and Master’s programme.

Step 6 : Essay writing
Case solution essay where you get the chance to demonstrate your in-depth knowledge and apply it to an up-to-date topic.

Step 7 : Personal Statement
Your opportunity to tell us why you are applying to the particular university and programme and your motivation for wanting to study in Sweden.

Step 8 : Share it with friends!
You will be able to boost your chances of winning by sharing the Personal Statement and collecting recommendations from friends via Facebook.
Between each of the competition steps you have the opportunity to leave the competition and return when you are ready for the next step. Before leaving the competition page, however, it is important to ensure that all completed answers in the question sets have been submitted successfully.

Screening process :
** All participants will be judged according to their overall performance in the competition, based on competition results, educational background and personal statement.
** 40 participants from each university with the highest quiz results and number of recommendations will be identified, and one finalist per university will be selected solely based on the strength of his/her recommendations. Hence, collecting recommendations can be a means of direct qualification to the final round.
** Approximately 40 finalists per university will be selected and officially presented on the Student Competitions website on November 18, 2013.
** All finalists must upon this announcement formally apply for their chosen Master’s programme through the Swedish system for university applications, www.universityadmissions.se. The online application should be submitted no later than December 6.
** In addition to the online application, you are required to send documents in hard copy by post to the Swedish National Admissions Office in Strömsund. It is crucial that you check what documents are required prior to beginning the application process. For more information about documents that are needed to complete your application, please refer to the respective university websites and www.universityadmissions.se.
** After this first shortlist, there is one more round, where the two partner universities will choose three final candidates each (six in total). These six final candidates will be notified on December 19.
** All six finalists will be invited to the prize ceremony in January (date and place to be announced). Domestic travel and accommodation will be paid for by the competition organiser.
** The first, second and third prize winners will be awarded during the ceremony.

Sweden Education Day :
Sweden Education Day in Bangalore (October 28), and Chennai (October 30) and Hyderabad (October 25) during the Nobel Memorial Week are the perfect opportunity for Indian students to learn more about studying and living in Sweden. Swedish Universities and companies will be present at the events to interact with students and other visitors along with representatives from the Swedish Trade Council and the Swedish Institute.

September 17 2013 :Competition opens for participation
October 25 2013 :Sweden Education Day Hyderabad
October 28 2013 :Sweden Education Day Bangalore
October 30 2013 :Sweden Education Day Chennai
November 12 2013 :Competition closes. All submissions must be completed
November 18 2013 :The 40 finalists are announced and should apply to chosen universities via www.universityadmissions.se as soon as possible.
December 6 2013 :Last day for the 40 finalists to send in the required materials and apply through www.universityadmissions.se.

Please Note :
This application deadline for contestants in Challenge Yourself India is different from the deadlines in the regular application process outlined below.

December 19 2013 :All winners are announced and invited to the prize ceremony
January 2014 :Prize ceremony (date and place to be announced)
Process for application to Swedish universities
January 15 2014 :Last day for applications to Swedish universities via www.universityadmissions.se.

Please Note :
The admissions deadline for competition participants differs from the deadline for general admissions. Please see the dates above.
February 3 2014 :Deadline for submitting supporting academic documents.
End of March 2014 :First notification of selection results. (reply required)
April 10 2014 :Last date to reply to your offer.
Middle of April 2014 :Second notification of selection results. (no reply required)
May 2014 :First prize winners receive full tuition fee waiver.
August 2014 :Winners start selected master’s programme in Sweden.

Eligibility :
The competition is open for participation to anyone fulfilling at least one of the criteria below :
Indian citizen or legal Indian resident
Currently enrolled at an Indian university
Holding a Bachelor’s degree from an Indian university (graduating no later than June 2014)
Swedish citizens are not eligible to participate in the competition, and neither are non-Swedish students currently enrolled at any of the universities for which the scholarships are offered.

In order to be able to claim the first prize (full tuition waiver), the winner first needs to fulfill the enrollment requirements set by each Master’s programme. All first prize winners have to be accepted into the chosen Master’s programme in order to receive the scholarship. The formal admission acceptance will be given by University Admissions in March 2014.

Thus, winning the competition does not automatically mean that the student is guaranteed a place at the Master’s programme.

The winner also needs to apply for a Swedish residence permit to be granted residency during their studies.

Terms & Conditions :
When registering an account for the competition, it is necessary to accept Student Competitions’ Terms & Conditions, which apply for all competitions organised by Student Competitions AB.

These include :
All users must provide submissions that the user has created him/herself.
All users must provide personal information that is true and correct.
Student Competitions reserves the right to exclude users at their sole discretion.

Additional Rules :
Participation :
Only one entry is accepted per participant, implying that each applicant only can apply to one school.
All participation in the competition must be individual.

Prizes :
No prize alternatives or cash equivalents are offered.
Prizes are non-transferable.
The winner is solely responsible for all applicable taxes related to the acceptance of the prize.

Misc :
The jury consisting of representatives from Student Competitions and the two participating schools reserve the right to choose the winners at their sole discretion.
The jury also reserves the right to choose fewer than the predetermined number of winners if, in the jury’s sole discretion, an insufficient number of eligible and/or qualified entries are received. Incomplete and/or inaccurate entries and entries not complying with all rules are subject to disqualification.
Student Competitions reserve the right to change these terms at any time.
The terms are governed by Swedish law and therefore you submit to the jurisdiction of the Swedish courts.
