Legal Hiership Certificate :
If the head or a member of the family expires, the next direct legal heir of the deceased such as the wife or husband or son or daughter or mother may apply for legal-heirship certificate on application for the purpose of transferring Electricity connection, House Tax, Telephone connection/patta transfer, Bank Account, etc. If the person who died is a Government servant, legal heir certificate is issued for sanction of family pension, and for getting appointment on compassionate grounds.
How To Apply?
No specific application form is available. For Certificate for claiming upto Rs. 5,000/- from any bank etc.., the application is to be submitted to the concerned Tahsildar. For that, an application in white paper with Court Fee Stamp worth Rs. 5/- has to be submitted before Tahsildar.
Where as for Certificates claiming more than Rs. 5,000/- from any bank etc.. Succession certificate from a Civil Court have to be acquired

Please apply at Trichur Tahsildar with the death certificate,copy of your last ration card at Trichur and two affidavits of the locality and who has knowledge of death. The application should bear a 5 /- rupee stamp. The form for the request will be available in the local book stall.

Very complicated case, At least make a will for yourself. For the members died also need to make legal hire certificate and his children are to be above the age of 18.
My grand mother had willed the property she owned in two of her daughters favor prior to her death. Unfortunately one of the beneficiary also died later. Now we are planning to sell this property for which legal heir certificate is to be obtained. I understand that 50% of the property willed in favor of the deceased has to be shared by all immediate relatives. Just want to know as to how we should proceed to obtain the heir certificate.?

I have purchased a land 5yrs back, now I am planning to sale the same and I have given all the copies of.land to the buyer. They went to the advocate for verifying the documents, and the advocate asked to get the death certificate and legal heir certificate. According to that I have taken a copy of death certificate from municipal office. I buy the land from a real estate broker. They said the land has hand overed 3-4 times and last it came to.me, I am the 5th owner for the said land, 1st the land belongs Muslim religion brother. Is the certificate necessary? How to apply and get the certificate?

They say that once the name appears in Gazzete and it takes 2 months. Where to look for or how to subscribe for gazzete so that I don’t miss the information. When is the Gazzete published? Is there any online source of Gazzete ? If yes than please provide the link and also exact page where to look at.
