IMTECH SCIENCE TALENT SEARCH EXAMINATION 2013 : (for Std X appearing students)
Eligibility :
1. Students appearing for Class X CBSE, ICSE and State Board Examinations (or equivalent) in March/April 2014 only are eligible to apply for this examination.
2. Students who are residing in India & UAE only are eligible to apply.
Date, duration & schedule of the Examination :
The Online IMTECH Science Talent Search Examination will be held on Friday, 20th December 2013. The duration of the exam is 1.5 hrs. On the date of the exam (20-Dec-2013), the exam will be conducted in 2 time slots. The morning slot will be scheduled from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM (UAE) and the evening slot will be scheduled from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM (UAE). Students can choose the slot that is convenient to them and will be allowed to take the examination only in the slot chosen.
Online Examination Details :
The students are expected to answer 60 Multiple Choice Questions within the allotted time of 1.5 hours. On the day of the examination, there will be a link ‘Science Talent Search Examination’ on the IMTECH website. On clicking this link, students can login to the online examination interface and view the instructions for the examination. Logins open at precisely 9:45 AM for the morning slot and at 4:45 PM for the evening slot. The examination session starts precisely at 10:00 AM for the morning slot and at 5:00 PM for the evening slot.
Subjects & Syllabus :
Questions will be asked from the subjects of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Mental Ability. Syllabus (list of topics covered) across the subjects is as follows:
PHYSICS – Optics, Current Electricity, Magnetism
CHEMISTRY – Chemical Reactions, Acids, Bases & Salts, Metals
MATHEMATICS – Real Numbers, Linear Equations, Quadratic Equations, Polynomials, Trigonometry, Triangles
Note: Mental Ability questions will be based on general aptitude and puzzle solving skills
Examination Pattern :
All the questions will be objective type multiple choice questions. For each question, four suggested answers would be given of which only one will be the correct answer. Instructions about marking the answers on the exam interface will be provided before the start of the exam session. Students are advised to promptly login when the logins open and carefully go through all the instructions before the start of the exam
Marking Scheme & Ranking :
+3 marks will be awarded for each correct response, and for each incorrect response, one mark will be deducted. Questions that are not attempted will not be awarded any marks. Ranking will be done on the aggregate marks scored in all 4 sections together. In case of a tie in the aggregate score, student scoring more in Mental Ability will get the better rank. If scores in Mental Ability section too are tied, student scoring more in Mathematics will get the better rank. If still tied, student scoring more in Physics will get the better rank. If still tied, student who has the better average time per correct question will get the better rank.
Declaration of Results :
The results will be declared on Friday, 3rd January 2014 at an award function, more details of which will be announced soon. The awards will be distributed by an eminent educationalist from India. An eminent team of IIT graduates with vast experience in the education / engineering exam preparation domain will deliver a speech on “Scope of Engineering & Engineering Entrance Examinations” in the event. The names of winners will be announced after due verification of their credentials from the Principals of the Schools in which they studied. The Principal of the top ranking student’s school will be a special invitee for the function.
Certificates & Rewards :
The Top 3 rank holders of the exam will be awarded a memento / trophy as recognition of their success in the contest.
Certificate of Merit with Gold Medal :
The Top 25 rank holders of the exam will be awarded a “Certificate of Merit” along with a GOLD MEDAL.
Certificate of Participation :
All students who participate in the exam will be awarded a “Certificate of Participation”
Registration :
Registration for IMTECH Science Talent Search Examination 2013 will commence on 10th November 2013. In the website of IMTECH (www.imtechuae.com), there will be a link for registration. Upon registration, the students will get their registration number.
