Scholarship Scheme for differently-abled Students undergoing Technical Courses from ITI and Polytechnic (Diploma Engineering courses) – (2013-14)

OBJECTIVE OF THE SCHEME :
To encourage and spread the reach of Technical Education to the differently-abled students who are undergoing Technical courses. BHEL endeavors to extend financial support to such economically backward and needy students thorough this Scholarship Scheme.

SCOPE AND COVERAGE :
** Differently-abled students with disability of 40% and above and are domicile of Madhya Pradesh, pursuing Technical Education from ITI and Polytechnic duly approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).
** For ITI candidates trades are restricted to Electrician, Machinist, Welder, Fitter and Draftsman discipline and for Polytechnic courses only Engg. Courses/Technical trades shall be covered.

NUMBER OF SCHOLARSHIPS :
The number of scholarships in Technical Education in the fields of ITI/Polytechnic (Diploma in Engg.) will be decided by the BHEL management from time to time. For the year 2013-14 the tentative number of scholarships shall be restricted to 80 (Eighty) in proportion of 40 from each course (i.e. ITI. & Diploma). In case, sufficient number of candidates are not found in one course, the left out scholarship can be given to eligible applicants of other course.

COURSE, DISCIPLINE AND INSTITUTION :
BHEL Scholarship shall be awarded to the students pursuing full time technical course in any of the ITI or polytechnic institutions recognized by the AICTE.

VALUE AND DURATION OF SCHOLARSHIP :
The amount of scholarship to be paid during the financial year commencing from 1.4.2013 to 31.3.2014 shall be Rs.20000/- (@ Rs.2000/- per month for 10 months) to be paid in lump sum. Further, the scholarship recipient shall continue to receive scholarship at the same rate for the entire duration of the course subject to fulfillment of terms and conditions of this scheme and budgetary approval from Corporate Office of BHEL.

CONDITIONS FOR AWARD OF SCHOLARSHIP :
I. Candidates should be the regular student of full time technical course from AICTE or Government recognized Institute of ITI or Polytechnic.
II. Candidate should be domicile resident of Madhya Pradesh and pursuing his studies in Madhya Pradesh. Preference shall be given to the female candidates.
III. Total Annual income of the family of the candidate should not exceed Rs.3,00,000/-(Rs.Three Lakh Only) per annum.
IV. The candidate should not be in any employment during the course of studies.
V. The scholarship scheme shall be reviewed every year by the CSR Committee and the continuance of the scheme would depend upon the availability of funds.
VI. For renewal of scholarship the Scholar will send a request letter to BHEL after the announcement of the result giving details of his/her academic achievements in the last academic year and a letter of recommendation from Head of the Institute. The grant of scholarship would depend on successful completion of the academic session.
VII. Any student/candidate having any criminal record or who has been rusticated from ITI/Polytechnic shall be disqualified.

PROCEDURE FOR AWARD OF SCHOLARSHIP :
The award of Scholarship and continuance thereof will be regulated as under:
Step I- BHEL, CSR group shall float an open advertisement through press and internet website inviting applications from the targeted group.
Step II- The applications should be duly recommended by the concerned ITI / Polytechnic with a suitable endorsement as prescribed in the application form enclosed.
Step III- Scrutiny of Documents submitted as required. In case, the number of applications received is more than the total no of scholarship to be awarded then the selection shall be through Weight age Point method attached as Annexure I with this scheme. The application should be accompanied with student’s disability certificate issued by appropriate authority.
Step IV- Distribution of cheques to eligible/selected candidates.

COMMENCEMENT OF THE SCHEME :
BHEL Scholarship Scheme for disabled student pursuing technical courses from ITI, and Polytechnic Institutions will commence from the academic year 2013-14.

MODE OF PAYMENT :
Payment of BHEL Scholarship may be made to the selected candidates through Account Payee cheques, Banker’s cheque or through ECS facility in the bank account of the student operated through Guardian, if any, else principal of the Institute. Payment may also be made through the concerned authority of the Institution in a manner as decided by the BHEL Management, in consultation with Institution concerned.

3. Photo identity Proof of Candidate (Driving License, Voter I-card, etc.)
