Creo Elements/Pro, a product formerly known as Pro/ENGINEER is a parametric, integrated 3D CAD/CAM/CAE solution created by Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC). It was the first to market with parametric, feature-based, associative solid modeling software. The application runs on Microsoft Windows platforms, and provides solid modeling, assembly modeling and drafting, finite element analysis, and NC and tooling functionality for mechanical engineers. The Pro/ENGINEER name was changed to Creo Elements/Pro on October 28, 2010, coinciding with PTC’s announcement of Creo, a new design software solution.
Creo Elements/Pro (formerly Pro/ENGINEER), PTC’s parametric, integrated 3D CAD/CAM/CAE solution, is used by discrete manufacturers for mechanical engineering, design and manufacturing. Created by Dr. Samuel P. Geisberg in the mid-1980s, Pro/ENGINEER was the industry’s first successful rule-based constraint (sometimes called “parametric” or “variational”) 3D CAD modeling system.

Initially named CATI (Conception Assistée Tridimensionnelle Interactive — French for Interactive Aided Three-dimensional Design) — it was renamed CATIA in 1981, when Dassault created a subsidiary to develop and sell the software, and signed a non-exclusive distribution agreement with IBM. In 1984,the Boeing Company chose CATIA as its main 3D CAD tool, becoming its largest customer.In 1988, CATIA version 3 was ported from mainframe computers to UNIX.In 1990, General Dynamics Electric Boat Corp chose CATIA as its main 3D CAD tool, to design the U.S. Navy’s Virginia class submarine.In 1992, CADAM was purchased from IBM and the next year CATIA CADAM V4 was published.
Unigraphics :
NX, also known as NX Unigraphics or usually just U-G, is an advanced CAD/CAM/CAE software package developed by Siemens PLM Software. It is used, among other tasks, for: Design (parametric and direct solid/surface modeling) Engineering analysis (static, dynamic, electro-magnetic, thermal, using the Finite Element Method, and fluid using the finite volume method). Manufacturing finished design by using included machining modules. NX is a direct competitor to Creo Elements/Pro, CATIA, SolidWorks and Autodesk Inventor.

AutoCAD is a CAD software application for 2D and 3D design and drafting. It is developed and sold by Autodesk, Inc. First released in December 1982, AutoCAD was one of the first CAD programs to run on personal computers, notably the IBM PC.
The latest AutoCAD release is AutoCAD 2012 and AutoCAD 2012 for Mac. This release marked the 26th major release for the AutoCAD for Windows, and the second consecutive year for AutoCAD for Mac.
