Fellowships for Young Scientists –Call for Proposals

To support promising researchers and provide them research opportunities in niche areas of basic and applied sciences in well-established and recognized R&D Centres in Kerala, Kerala State Council For Science, Technology and Environment announces the launch of Young Scientist Scheme for nurturing and mentoring young researchers for fulfilling long term career goals in science, technology and related domains.

Eligibility Criteria :
The scheme is open to applicants (under the age of 40 years and 45 years in the case of woman candidates on the date of application) of Indian citizens and candidates of Indian origin who have a PhD Degree in any branch of Science from a recognized University, with research interest in the subject area chosen and should have at least two research publications in peer reviewed journals indexed in leading database.

Funding Pattern :
The scheme covers all branches of Science & Technology. Under this scheme, the Young Scientists will be provided monthly emoluments of Rs 35,000/-per month for fresh PhD’s, Rs 40,000/- per month for fellows with 3 years research/industrial experience after PhD and

Rs 45,000/-per month for fellows with 5 years research/industrial experience after PhD. The programme also aims at giving project grants to eligible scientists upto Rs 30 Lakhs for three years (two years extension is subjected to review) for a proposed R&D project which covers manpower at Junior level (Project Fellow @ Rs 11,000/per month plus 10% HRA or Technical Assistant @ Rs 6000/per month), travel, contingency, consumables and equipments. Proposals could be either for discovery science or for developing a process or technology. The sanctioned projects may be operated in Research Institutes/Colleges/Industry, University Departments or selected National Research Institutes within the state and is allowed only for those who intend to do their post doctoral work in an institution other than the centre where they have worked for their doctoral degree.
