PG Certificate Programme in Welding and Quality Engineering (2014- 15) jointly organised by
PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore and BHEL Educational Society,
Tiruchirappalli

Welding professionals with good exposure to theory and practical knowledge are in great demand globally. PSG College of Technology, an institution of repute for higher education in engineering and BHEL Educational Society, a society established by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited Tiruchirappalli for promoting education in advanced engineering, have come together to otter a postgraduate certificate programme in Welding and Quality Engineering. Major fabrication industries are expected to absorb the successful candidates.

The programme includes theory and practicals in the fields of welding engineering, non-destructive testing and quality control. Internship training at Welding Research Institute as well as at the fabrication shops of BHEL Tiruchirappalli is an important and integral part of this programme. The programme commences from 16th June, 2014. Theory and laboratory courses will be conducted at P86 College of Technology in the first three months and the remaining period will be mainly devoted to internship training at BHEL, Tiruchirappalli.

Hostel accommodation will be available at PSGCT, Coimbatore and BHEL campus, Tiruchirappalli on extra payment.

Curriculum:
** Basic Engineering sciences Welding processes
** Welding metallurgy
** Welding application Engineering Non Destructive Testing
** Quality Assurance and control Codes and standards
** Welding & NDT practicals Internship training

Eligibility: Candidates with B.E degree in Mechanical, Production, Metallurgy, Automobile, Manufacturing, Mechatronics and allied disciplines or equivalent, who have passed out in 2013 and current batch 2014 are eligible to apply

Course Duration : 12 months.

Selection process: Candidates will be selected based on written test interview. In addition, BHEL will be sponsoring few young employee candidates for this programme. Entrance exam syllabus covers General Science (Maths, Physics & Chemistry), Strength of materials, Thermodynamics, Heat transfer, Engineering drawing & Machine elements, Material science and Overview of manufacturing process

Course fee details:
Educational course fee : Rs. 85,000/.
NDT Level II Certification course fee : Rs. 25,000
(Service tax as applicable, to be paid extra to lSNT at the time of conduct of NDT course)

Certification Programmes: As part of this programme, the candidate will undergo ASNT NDT Level ll Certification programmes in all the four NDT technique and Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) examination of Welding Research Institute, BHEL Tiruchirappalli.
