Concept:
Get ready to click and capture The biggest election under way in India, the world has ever seen! India is going to have 16th Lok Sabha General Elections. India, a vibrant democracy and the second most populous nation in the world, involves a mega exercise by gigantic government machinery The numbers are huge, the challenges considerable, and the issues at stake are immense. A total of 815 million people are eligible to vote at almost a million polling stations. There are 8,000 candidates representing more than 500 constituencies.
A general election is taking place in nine phases, the longest election in the country’s history, from 7 April to 12 May 2014 to constitute the 16th Lok Sabha in India. Voting will take place in all 543 parliamentary constituencies of India to elect members of parliament in the Lok Sabha. The result of this election will be declared on 16 May.
We are inviting Photo captures of historic 16th General Elections from all BCS Participants and alumni.

Who can participate? Eligibility
** The Contest is open to all BCS Participants
Themes: General Loksabha Elections
** Voting – Election Management
** Election propaganda-(Party Prachar)
** Counting and Results
** Election celebrations, any such theme focusing to main Elections.
Camera Specification –
** Digital single lens reflectors Cameras – DSLRS
** Any other gadget – mobile, tab, Small cameras etc
Submission limit :
** Minimum 1 – Maximum 2 – Photographs per participant
Photo specification –
** Photograph should be in only in JEPG Format- *jpeg
** JPEG’s saved at a high quality setting (i.e. Photoshop level 10 or above).
OR –
** RGB files, not single color, grayscale or CMYK.
** Do not send compressed/ziped files
Other Details to mention :
** Please mention Camera specification, Model and lens details
** Please write Photo synopsis – Theme description, up to 500 words.
** Please attaché with it a 20 lines write up on “What Democracy means to me…”- in Word-doc file.

General Rules:
** By submitting your entry, you agree to be bound by these Contest rules. Entries that do not comply with the rules will be disqualified from the Contest.
** Participants must not display/share/. Entries that suggest a political affiliation.
** Content defaming any person/party will not be accepted.
** After submission; the photograph and content will be exclusive property of BCS Foundation Submission Entry authorizes BCS Foundation perpetual, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, copy, reproduce, display, distribute, modify and create derivative works based on the entry for purposes of any activities or initiatives carried out by BCS Foundation.
Procedure for the Evaluation and Selection of Winning Entries:
Following are the evaluation criteria:
a) Clarity: Does the photo and caption clearly depicts the theme
b) Creativity: How original is the photo and caption
c) Vision: Does the photo and caption express the contestant’s view of democracy and elections
d) Technical Soundness: Technical perfection in the photograph with reference to the theme
Prizes:
** Cash prizes for Best 10 photographs
** Best 5 photographs will get opportunity to be on Cover Page of Chhatrarth
** Best 30 photographs will get publication opportunity in BCS Content in different media
** Best 50 Photographs will get display opportunity in next 5th BCS
** 10 Best photographers will get invitation to be official photographer for next 5th BCS.
