Admission to Post Graduate Programmes for
2014-15-I Semester (July 2014)
Applications are invited for Indian citizens for admission to the post graduate programmes for the session commencing from July 2014.
Ph.D. (Engineering): M.Tech./ME./M.Sc.(Engg.) degree in the respective or allied area. The candidates with Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology or Master’s degree in Sciences in an allied area with exceptional academic record and having a valid GATE score may also apply. For Ph.D. in BSBE, candidate with MBBS, B.Pharma or M.Pharma Degree may also apply.
Ph.D. (Sciences & HSS): M.Sc./M.A. Degree in respective or allied area with a valid GATE/UGC/CSIR score.
Ph.D. (Management): A master’s degree in management or relevant disciplines in engineering / technology with a valid GATE / UGC / CSIR score.
Ph.D. (Design): A master’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Design with a valid GATE / UGC / CEED score.
M.Tech. (Engineering): B.Tech./BE./M.Sc.(Engg.) degree in the respective or allied area. For admission into M.Tech. in Biological Sciences and Bio-engineering, applicants having bachelor’s degree in pharmacy/medicine with marks/CPI not below the specified minimum may also be considered.
M.Des.: A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Design or Architecture with a valid GATE / CEED score. Candidates holding degrees in Fine Arts or Interior Design are not eligible to apply.
M.B.A.: A bachelor’s degree in Engineering with minimum 60 percent marks/6.0 CPI with a valid CAT score. Candidates from Architecture tream may also apply provided they have Mathematics as a subject at 10+2 level.
General Information:
All applications must be filled online. After filling the online application, one has to take a print out and send it to the department concerned, along with all the certificates, photograph, and a draft for application fee. The list of attachments are provided on the application page .
Financial assistance may be provided to students selected in M.Tech. and Ph.D. programmes.
Application Fee :
General , OBC candidates : Rs. 400/-
PD, SC, and ST candidates : Rs. 200/-
The fee must be paid through a demand draft payable to The Registrar, IIT Kanpur payable at Kanpur.
How to Apply :
i) Only Indian Residents should apply from this website.
ii) PG Online application is for M.Tech./Ph.D./M.Des. programs only.
iii) Please go through General Information & How To Apply before filling up PG Online Application
iv) If you have BE/BTech degree with 75% marks or 7.5 grade from Centrally Funded Technical Institute then you eligible for direct admission in PhD without GATE score.
v) Only Applicants, who have submitted their complete application can login and check the status. You may also contact respective department for the status of your Application
vi) If you are new to this website, please click the link “Register Here” provided on the right panel.
vii) Please provide genuine academic, personal, e-mail information and mobile no as these are used for communication & verification. E-mail intimation will be sent to you after registration.
viii) Separate application and demand draft must be filled for each department and program.
ix) Please do not submit multiple applications for same department and program.

Important Dates:
The online applications will be available from : 28th March 2014, till 14th April 2014.
