RULES AND REGULATIONS : FOR K.G.T.E IN TAILORING, EMBROIDERY AND NEEDLE WORK (NEW SCHEME) LOWER & HIGHER
1. The Examinations will be conducted by the Controller of Technical Examinations, Trivandrum 40 at the end of every academic year. There will be lower and higher examinations every year.
2. There will be no supplementary examination
3. The minimum qualification for admission to the K.G.T.E Tailoring Course (Lower) is a pass in VII Standard.
4. Candidates for the K.G.T Tailoring, Embroidery and Needle work examination (Lower) conducted at the end of the I st year must have the minimum qualification noted in (3) above and must have completed the prescribed one year course of study for the K.G.T.E Tailoring, Embroidery and Needle work (Lower) in a Government T.G.M.T Centre/Tailoring Training Centre, Tailoring Trade School or in a private industrial school recognized by Government of Kerala. Candidates for K.G.T.E Higher Examination must have completed the prescribed one year course of study for K.G.T.E Tailoring, Embroidery and Needle work (Higher) in any of the above mentioned institutions.
5. A candidate will be allowed to register for the K.G.T (Higher) Examination only if she had registered for the K.G.T (Lower) Examination previously.
6. A candidate may however appear for the Lower and Higher Examinations simultaneously. But the results of the Higher Examinations will be with held unless the candidate passes the lower Examination.
7. A candidate securing 40% marks in a subject (theory or practical) will be declared to have passed in that subject.
8. A candidate who passed all the subjects is to sitting will be declared to have passed the whole examination. Those who get 60% or more aggregate marks in one sitting will be placed in the I st class.
9. A candidate who fails in any theory or practical subject should re-appear for the whole examination in subsequent appearance. Piece-meal appearance will not allowed.
10. A candidate will be allowed to appear for examination (either Lower or Higher) only for 3 chances.
11. Separate certificates will be issued for the Lower and Higher Examinations.
12. These regulations will be applicable only for the new curriculum.

Scheme of Examination :
[I] KGTE WORD PROCESSING LOWER/HIGHER
There will be two parts in this examination. Part I and Part II.
(a) Part – I
This part is used to test the ability of candidates to type a passage in the permissible time. Software is used to evaluate the performance of this test. The software has a built-in text editor. The question paper shall consist of a text passage of 1500/2250 characters. The candidates have to type this text in the text editor. There will be provision to correct the mistakes if any occurred during typing. Maximum time allowed for this Part is 10 minutes. The keyboard will be locked automatically after 10 minutes. The software will evaluate text passage typed by the candidate. The result will be displayed and its print copy is to be signed by the candidate. Maximum mark is 100. The minimum marks required for a pass is 40.

(b) Part – II :
In this part, a candidate will be supplied a formatted text document. He/she has to create a soft copy of the given document using MS Word. The maximum time allowed is 20/50 minutes. The maximum mark is 100. This part will be evaluated only if the candidate has passed Part I.

General instructions to candidates :
KGTE Word Processing Examination is a practical Examination
Candidates will be permitted to attend the Examination, only if his/her name is included in the center-wise list of Examination, issued by the Pareeksha Bhavan Thiruvananthapuram.
Candidates who does not bring their hall ticket will not be permitted to attend the Examination.
Candidate should remit the Examination fee at LBS Center for Science and Technology. The fee fixed for word Processing Lower is Rs. 100/- and that for Higher is Rs. 150/-.
Change of Examination Centre is not permissible.
Five minutes times will be allowed to each candidate for keyboard familiarization before the commencement of the examination.
Part II Examination will be conducted first followed by Part I examination.
Candidate should put their signature with name in the printouts of their practical exam results.
