Calling all App-licants!

Do You Have An App Idea- Join a unique competition.

Turn your ideas into reality! All you have to do is brainstorm and submit ideas that promote Kerala tourism and that can be developed into Mobile Apps. You don’t have to develop the App on your own, you merely have to come up with the concept. Submit your idea (not exceeding one page) in a detailed concept note and enter this opportunity to win wonderful prizes.

Terms and Conditions:
App Idea Contest :
The “Contest” is designed to encourage people (the “Entrant(s)”) to share their ideas for developing mobile apps for travellers visiting or planning to visit Kerala.They can submit ideas (the ideas). While prepairing the idea, the entrant,must also explain how it will benefit Kerala Tourism. Judges will choose the winning entries, and prizes will be awarded in accordance with these Official Rules (the “Rules”) of this competition listed here in after

We are inviting only your ideas to develop Mobile Apps. You need not have to develop apps for this contest.

Organiser :
The Contest is organised by Department of Tourism, Government of Kerala, (here in after referred to as “Kerala Tourism”) Park View, Thiruvananthapuram, India.

Consultant :
The contest is being executed by the IT Consultant and solution provider of Kerala Tourism, M/s Invis Multimedia (here in after referred to as “Consultant”), Pandit Colony, Kaudiar, Thiruvananthapuram, India.

Contest Period :
The Contest begins on 18February 2014 and the closing date for receipt of entries is18 March 2014, midnight (IST) (“Contest Period”). All dates are subject to change.

Eligibility For Participating In This Contest :
The Contest is open to people anywhere in the world who have completed the age of 18 years (on or before 01.01.1996), and eligible to enter into a legally binding contract. However, association or groups of more than one person can also apply. But the name of all those should be registered under the first registrant and only one login id and password will be issued and that will be sent to the first registrant.

Binding Agreement :
In order to enter the Contest, entrant must accept the official rules (“Rules”). The Rules consist of : (i) the terms and conditions on this web page; (ii) the terms and conditions if any on the online registration/ Entry Form available on the site

The person who accepts this agreement should read them carefully prior to entry to ensure that he/she understand and agrees, because these Rules form a legally binding agreement with respect to this Contest. Further, the entrant agrees that submission of an entry in the Contest constitutes agreement to these Rules.

Entry Fee :
There is no entry fee for this contest.

Competition :
The participant is expected to submit an idea in writing for developing a mobile App, which can be useful to travelers visiting Kerala or planning to visit Kerala. The idea can be elaborated in not more than one A4 page. The idea should be submitted to the website of Kerala Tourism through the contest page with the login id and password received at the time of registration.

Loss Or Damage To Entries :
Kerala Tourism accepts no responsibility for submissions lost, delayed, damaged, defaced, or mislaid, howsoever caused. Proof of mailing does not constitute proof of entry.

Number Of Entries :
We request the entrant to send only one idea for the competition, which is your best idea. But if you want to send more than one entry, it is acceptable, provided you send it from the same login id. In no case, one person will be allowed to register twice. Maximum of five ideas can be send through a single login id.

Language And Length Of The Article :
The entries should be in English. The article should contain the idea in one sentence as a heading and a description in a minimum of 200 words. It should not exceed a maximum of 300 words in any case.

Requirements :
The entries must meet the following criteria ( “articles or recipes” ) :
The idea should be for developing a mobile app beneficial to travellers visiting or planning to visit Kerala (State of Kerala, Republic of India).
They must not contain any idea content, material or any element that is unlawful, or otherwise in violation of or contrary to all applicable national, state, or local laws and regulations.
They must not contain any idea, content, material or element that displays any third party advertising, slogan, logo, and trademark or otherwise indicate a sponsorship or endorsement by a third party, commercial entity or that is not within the spirit of the Contest, as determined by Kerala Tourism, in its sole discretion.
They must be original and does not contain, incorporate or otherwise use any idea, content, material or element that is owned by a third party or entity.
They cannot contain any idea content, element, or material that violates a third party’s publicity, privacy or intellectual property rights.

Publication Of Entries :
Kerala Tourism may publish any of the ideas in its website before or after the last date of the competition. Kerala tourism reserves the right to decide the entries to be published.

Judging Committee :
A judging committee will be formed with three members. They will judge the ideas and decide the prize.

Selection Of Winners :
The winners will be selected by the Judging Committee.

Prizes :
First Prize – Rs.1,00,000/- as cash prize
Second Prize – Rs.50,000/- (for 2 persons)
Third prize – Laptop Computer (for 3 persons)
Consolation prize – Mobile Phone (for 12 persons)

Any tax amount that the law of the land warrants to deduct or with hold will be applicable to prize money and Kerala Tourism will take every step required under the law.

Conditions For The Distribution Of Prizes To Winners :
Kerala Tourism may reduce the number of prizes, if in the opinion of Judging Committee there are no sufficient ideas to qualify for the prize.
There is no cash alternative and for prizes other than cash prize. The prizes must be taken as offered. Kerala Tourism reserves the right to substitute prize(s) of an equal value if the Contest prizes become unavailable for any reason. If any winner is not able for whatever reason to accept their prize then Kerala Tourism reserves the right to award the prize to the next best entry, as judged by the panel consisting of independent judges and Kerala Tourism officials.
Any prize(s) that remain unclaimed at the end of 30 days from the announcement of the final results will become cancelled. Kerala Tourism reserves the right to award this prize to the next best entry or even revoke that prize.
Kerala Tourism does not assume any responsibility for any products and services offered under the Contest. And under no circumstances shall the inclusion of any product or service in the Contest be construed as an endorsement or recommendation of such product or service by Kerala Tourism.
Except for warranties and conditions implied by law which cannot be excluded, Kerala Tourism makes no representations or warranties, express or implied, regarding the quality or suitability of any prizes awarded under these Rules.

Other Conditions :
Taxes :
Awards of prizes to potential winners are subject to the express requirement that they submit to Kerala tourism all documentation requested by Kerala tourism to permit it to comply with tax laws applicable if any. All prizes will be net of any taxes Kerala tourism is required by law to withhold. To the extent permitted by law, all taxes imposed on prizes are the sole responsibility of the winners. If a potential winner fails to provide such documentation or comply with such laws, the prize may be forfeited and Kerala Tourism may, in its sole discretion, select an alternate potential winner.

General Conditions :
All national, state and local laws and regulations apply. Kerala Tourism reserves the right to disqualify any Entrant from the Contest if, in Kerala Tourism’s sole discretion, it reasonably believes that the Entrant has attempted to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest by cheating, deception, or other unfair playing practices or annoys, abuses, threatens or harasses any other entrants, Kerala Tourism, or the Judges.
