Student Research Poster Competition 2014 (Open Only to Manipal University Students)

Overview:
Manipal University Students’ Research Forum (Under the Aegis of Research Directorate) will host the undergraduate and postgraduate Student Research Poster Competition during Manipal Research Colloquium 11th and 12th April 2014.

Original research work, case studies, class projects and reviews are encouraged with the abstracts becoming part of the poster during Manipal Research Colloquium 2014.

The student research poster competition provides a platform to showcase the diverse research of undergraduate and postgraduate students to present their original research work to a faculty panel in their respective disciplines in a scientific atmosphere. Posters will be evaluated and two best posters in each category will receive prizes.

Abstract Guidelines :
1. The abstract should be brief, informative and should provide a brief summary of the presentation.
2. Abstract Format- MS Word 97 or higher, 12 pt. Arial, single-spaced, single-column, 1-inch margins on all sides
3. Abstract must include title, author, address, objectives, methods, results and conclusions.
4. Title of abstract must be less than 15 words (14 pt. bold, Arial, centred).
5. Each abstract can have a maximum of three authors (Presenter, Co-Presenter and Mentor) and include below title with department affiliation.
6. Presenter will be the first author; mentor can be research scholar or faculty member. Each author will get a certificate.
7. A brief write up of abstract not more than 200 words must be submitted online by an email to research.hlthsci@manipal.edu as a Microsoft word attachment on or before March 25th 2014.
8. Mention the category code in abstract. (the one best suitable in the given table)
9. Abstracts can be submitted in any of the categories shown in table.
10. The submitted abstracts will be screened by an expert panel and also will be subjected to plagiarism check by Turnitin software.
11. The acceptance of abstracts will be notified through email on or before 31st March 2014.
12. The presenter of the accepted abstract required to prepare a poster as per the guidelines and display on specified date. (Will be announced later)

Poster Guidelines :
1. A space of (Dimensions 36 x 36 inches) will be made available to each participant.
2. The text should be in a normal font such as Times or Arial and different colour illustration is encouraged in posters.
3. The sections of the poster should be organized reflecting the background of the study.
4. The text of the different sections needs to be readable from distance of 7-9 meters.
5. The poster should contain:
a. Category Code
b. Title: Should be descriptive and must contain the authors’ names and department.
c. Introduction
d. Objectives
e. Materials and Methods
f. Results and Discussion
g. Conclusion
h. Acknowledgments: Cite the funding agency or the sponsor for the study
i. References: A list of the references relevant to the work.

Abstract Submission Deadline: 25th March 2014
Abstract Acceptance Notification: 31st March 2014
