9th ALL INDIA MOOT COURT COMPETITION – 2014 :
The All India Moot Court Competition under the auspices of Goverrnment law college,Thiruvananthapuram will be held from 21st March to 23rd March 2014 at Government College of Law Campus at Barton Hill, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala (see for details, activities>moot competition>downloads)

RULES AND REGULATIONS :
DATE AND VENUE :
The All India Moot Court Competition under the auspices of Goverrnment law college, Thiruvananthapuram will be held from 21st March to 23rd March 2014 at Government College of Law Campus at Barton Hill, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

ELIGIBILITY :
The Competition is open to all Law Colleges and Faculties/ Departments of Law in India, recognized by Bar Council of India. The participation is limited to the LL.B/B.L students in both Three year scheme and Five year schemes. Students pursuing post graduation in law and students undergoing non-professional/ correspondence course are not eligible to participate in the competition.

TEAM COMPOSITION :
Each institution participating in the competition can send a team comprising of a minimum of two and a maximum of three students. There can be two speakers and one researcher designated in each team. Teams shall identify such speakers and researcher during registration.

REGISTRATION :
a. The participating teams will have to register themselves on their arrival by paying a fee of Rs.2000.
b. A code number will be awarded to each team and that number alone shall be marked on the memorial and no indication shall be made for identifying the institution of the participants. c. The participants shall wear the badge provided by the society throughout the days of the competition.

COMPETITION FORMAT :
a. The language of the Court shall be English.
b. The orientation and drawing of lots will be held on 21st March 2014 evening (Friday).
c. There will be two preliminary rounds of argument, quarter-final, Semi-Final and a Final round.
d. Preliminary rounds will be held on 22nd March 2014 (Saturday). Top Eight teams will be qualified for the Quarter-Finals which would be held on 22nd March 2014 evening (Saturday).
e. The Quarter -Finals will be a knock – out round.
f. The qualification to the Quarter-Finals will be based on highest aggregate of score in the preliminaries (inclusive of memorial marks)
g. The Semi-Finals will be a knock – out round and will be held on 23rd March 2014, fore noon (Sunday)
h. The Finals will be held on 23rd March 2014 (Sunday– afternoon).
i. Each team is expected to be ready with written briefs and oral arguments to argue for either side of the case. The Court will follow the procedure within accepted norms of judicial practice and in case of doubt or dispute in the matter of procedure or facts; the decision of the presiding member of the committee of judges in each court shall be final.
j. The participants will have to bring along with them necessary books, Reports, Journals etc. True copies will be accepted. The Library of Govt. Law College, Thiruvananthapuram can be utilized for reference.
k. The dress code for the participants during the court session shall be as follows:-
Female participants :- White Saree and Black blouse/ White Salwar with Black over coat/ Black suit
Male participants :- White or Black pants and white Shirt with Tie/ Black Suit
l. Each team will be given 35 minutes to advance their arguments including rebuttal. The team members can divide the time among themselves, which in any case shall not be less than 10 minutes or more than 20 minutes for each speaker.
m. The best researcher will be selected on the basis of an interview conducted on 22nd March 2014 by a panel of eminent lawyers and academicians.
