4th Dr. Paras Diwan Memorial National ‘Energy Law’ Moot Court Competition 2014 :
College Of legal Studies is organizing the fourth Dr Paras Diwan Memorial National ‘Energy Law’ Moot Court Competition on 4th and 5th and 6th April 2014 at UPES.
Participation :
Registration :
a) The registration of the teams for the competition shall be strictly done on first come first serve basis.
b) The teams shall submit duly completed registration form along with the demand draft in soft copy by sending the scanned copy of both at mcc.upes2014 AT gmail.com on or before 21st February 2014 and hard copy on or before 7th March 2014 to the communication address mentioned in the rule book.
c) All teams shall be given a team code by the committee after completion of registration
d) Thereafter, the teams shall use their designated team code for any further correspondence.
e) All the teams who have sent their completed registration form along with the demand draft shall arrive and verify the details in person at the Dehradun Campus on 3rd April, 2014 not later than 2 pm.
f) Each team has to submit 5 sets of memorials (hard bound) for each side at the time of verification at Dehradun Campus specifying the team code allocated on each memorial.

Draw of Lots :
The lots shall be drawn by the teams before the preliminary rounds, quarter final, & semi-final to decide the match-ups
Maximum number of teams :
A maximum of 20 teams shall participate in the competition which may be increased at the sole discretion of the administrator.
Registration Fees :
a) A nominal registration fee of Rs. 3500/- shall be charged from the teams of participating Universities/Colleges/Institutions.
b) The registration fee must be submitted by a Demand Draft of any National Bank drawn in favour of “University of Petroleum & Energy Studies” payable at Dehradun.
Submission of Memorials :
a) Each team has to submit soft copies of the memorial for each side on or before 18th March 2014(11 :59pm) by mailing it at mcc.upes2014 AT gmail.com and also submit 2 copies of the memorial (spiral and non-hard bound) for each side on or before 24th March 2014 .
b) Scoring of memorials shall be done in accordance with the clause 8 (i)(d).
Eligibility :
Students enrolled in full time 3 years or 5 years law programmes are eligible to compete in the competition. Each college/Institution/University may send maximum of one team.
Official Language :
The official language of the Competition is English.
Team Composition :
a) Each team shall include two speakers, who shall be accompanied by one researcher all of whom shall be designated accordingly. .
b) The team may also comprise of an observer, who may accompany the team and shall be governed by Clause 7 for their conduct during the competition. The observer will not be awarded with any certificate of the competition.
c) The details of the Observer, if any, should be informed in the registration form by attaching a separate application signed by the Head of the Participating Institution
Accommodation and Food :
a) Accommodation and Food shall be provided to all participants on the dates of the competition only, i.e. from 3rd April 2014 to 6th April 2014.
b) Accommodation and Food shall be provided only for the registering participants’ i.e. 2 speakers and 1 researcher. Extra charges shall be incurred by the team if an observer is accompanying them.
c) The transport for commutation from railway station or ISBT to the guest house shall be provided only on prior confirmation of travel plan by the participating teams.
d) The transport for commutation from guest house to railway station or ISBT on completion of competition shall be provided as per the schedule, which shall be provided to the teams on their arrival.
Dress Code :
The dress code of the competition shall be as follows :-
a) Gentlemen are required to wear a full suit comprising of a black formal coat and trousers, full sleeved white shirt, tie and formal footwear.
b) Ladies are required to wear Indian formals with black coat or a full suit comprising of a black formal coat and trousers, white shirt and formal footwear.
Researcher’s Test :
There shall be a researcher’s test on 3rd April 2014 at 4 pm in Campus.
Awards :
a) The following awards shall be given at the valedictory ceremony of the competition

b) All those teams qualified for the mooting rounds shall be awarded with certificates, except for those who would be disqualified as per the rules.

27th January , 2014-Release of the Moot Court problem and Rules of the Competition Commencement of registration of teams for the competition
21st February , 2014-Last day for confirmation of registration via e-mail
7th March , 2014-Last day for receiving complete registration form in hard copy along with the Demand Draft
18th March , 2014-Last day for submitting the soft copy of the Memorials (11 :59 P.M. IST)
24th March , 2014-Last day for submitting the hard copies of the Memorials (11 :59 P.M. IST)
3rd April , 2014-Inauguration of the competition Orientation of participants Researcher Test
4th April , 2014-Preliminary Rounds
5th April, 2014-Quarter-final and Semi-final rounds
