The Great Kerala Food Championship is designed to encourage your creativity to share your experiences with the Kerala food in the form of an article written in English. You can submit articles on your Kerala cuisine experience or recipes you like most. While submitting your favourite recipe, you must also write why you like it. Entry In This Contest Constitutes Your Acceptance Of These Official Rules :
The Great Kerala Food Championship – (the “Contest”) is designed to encourage people (the “Entrant(s)”) to use their creativity to share their experiences with the Kerala food in the form of an article written in English. They can submit articles (the entries) on their Kerala cuisine experience or recipes they like most. While submitting their favourite recipe, they must also write why they like it. Judges will choose the winning entries, and prizes will be awarded in accordance with these Official Rules (the “Rules”) of this competition listed here in after
About Kerala :
Kerala is a state of the sovereign Republic of India and it is blessed with cultural diversity and bio diversity.
Organisor :
The Contest is organised by Department of Tourism, Government of Kerala, (here in after referred to as “Kerala Tourism”) Park View, Thiruvananthapuram, India.
Consultant :
The contest is being executed by the IT Consultant and Solution Provider of Kerala Tourism, M/s Invis Multimedia (here in after referred to as ‘’Consultant”), Pandit Colony, Kaudiar, Thiruvananthapuram, India.
Eligibility For Participating In This Contest :
The Contest is open to people anywhere in the world who have completed the age of 18 years (born on or before 01.01.1996), and eligible to enter into a legally binding contract. The entrant can register only once but she/he can submit more than one entry, subject to a maximum of five if she/he desires so. All the entries of one entrant should be submitted under one registration, login id and password.
Binding Agreement :
In order to enter the Contest, entrant must accept the Official Rules (“Rules”).
The Rules consist of :
(i) the terms and conditions on this web page;
(ii) the terms and conditions if any on the online registration/ Entry Form available on the site www.keralatourism.org
The person who accepts this agreement should read them carefully prior to entry to ensure that he/she understand and agrees, because these Rules form a legally binding agreement with respect to this Contest. Further, the entrant agrees that submission of an entry in the Contest constitutes agreement to these Rules.
How To Enter :
To enter the Contest, visit the Contest webpage at www.keralatourism.org/foodchampionship (“Contest page”) during the Contest Period.
Entry Fee :
There is no entry fee for this contest.
Competition :
The participant is expected to submit online, a write up on his/her favourite dish or any story directly related their experience with Kerala food. The article or should be submitted to the website of Kerala Tourism through the contest page with the login id and password received at the time of registration.
Loss Or Damage To Entries :
Kerala Tourism accepts no responsibility for submissions lost, delayed, damaged, defaced, or mislaid, howsoever caused. Proof of mailing does not constitute proof of entry.
Number Of Entries :
We request the entrant to send only one entry for the competition, which is your best recipe. But if you want to send more than one entry, it is acceptable, provided you send it from the same login id. In no case, one person will be allowed to register twice. Maximum of five entries can be sent through a single login id.
Language And Length Of The Article :
The entries should be in English. The article should contain a minimum of 200 words and should not exceed a maximum of 600 words.
Requirements :
The entries must meet the following criteria (“articles or recipes”)
** Subject or theme of the article must be related to Kerala Cusine (State of Kerala, Republic of India).
** They must not contain content, material or any element that is unlawful, or otherwise in violation of or contrary to all applicable national, state, or local laws and regulations.
** They must not contain any content, material or element that displays any third party advertising, slogan, logo, and trademark or otherwise indicate a sponsorship or endorsement by a third party, commercial entity or that is not within the spirit of the Contest, as determined by Kerala Tourism, in its sole discretion.
** They must be original and does not contain, incorporate or otherwise use any content, material or element that is owned by a third party or entity.
** They cannot contain any content, element, or material that violates a third party’s publicity, privacy or intellectual property rights.
Publication Of Entries :
Kerala Tourism may publish any of the entries in its website before or after the last date of the competition. Kerala tourism reserves the right to decide whether the entries to be published.
Screening Committee :
A screening committee will be formed with two prominent personalities. The number of members of the committee may be increased depending upon the total number of entries received. Screening committee will shortlist the total entries after a initial screening.
Judging Committee :
A judging committee will be formed with 2 members. They will judge the entries shortlisted by the screening committee.
Selection Of Winners :
The winners will be selected by the Judging committee.
Prizes :
There will be 402 prizes altogether.
General Prizes for Entrants (300gifts) :
T Shirts to registrants selected on random basis (Maximum 50 gifts a week)
Prizes for winners :
First prize :- 3 Night stay in a Kerala Hotel for 2 people (between May to August) Plus Air fare to Kerala from any point within India to collect prize
Second Prize :- 2 Night stay in a Kerala Hotelfor 2 peoples, (between May to August) Plus Air fare to Kerala from any point within India to collect prize
Consolation Prize (100 gifts) :- Household Articles worth less than Rs 2000+ Shipping 500/-
Conditions For The Distribution Of Prizes To Winners :
** Kerala Tourism may reduce the number of prizes, if in the opinion of Screening Committee or Judging Committee there are no sufficient entries to qualify for the prize.
** There is no cash alternative and the prizes must be taken as offered. Kerala Tourism reserves the right to substitute prize(s) of an equivalent value should the Contest prizes become unavailable for any reason. If any winner is not able for whatever reason to accept their prize then Kerala Tourism reserves the right to award the prize to the next best entry.
** Any prize(s) that remain unclaimed at the end of 30 days from the announcement of the final results will become cancelled. Kerala Tourism reserves the right to award this prize to the next best entry or even revoke that prize.
** Kerala Tourism does not assume any responsibility for any products and services offered under the Contest. And under no circumstances shall the inclusion of any product or service in the Contest be construed as an endorsement or recommendation of such product or service by Kerala Tourism.
** Except for warranties and conditions implied by law which cannot be excluded, Kerala Tourism makes no representations or warranties, express or implied, regarding the quality or suitability of any prizes awarded in this competition.
Other Conditions :
Taxes :
Awards of prizes to potential winners are subject to the express requirement that they submit to Kerala tourism all documentation requested by Kerala tourism to permit it to comply with tax laws applicable if any. All prizes will be net of any taxes Kerala tourism is required by law to withhold. To the extent permitted by law, all taxes imposed on prizes are the sole responsibility of the winners. If a potential winner fails to provide such documentation or comply with such laws, the prize may be forfeited and Kerala Tourism may, in its sole discretion, select an alternate potential winner.
General Conditions :
All national, state and local laws and regulations apply. Kerala Tourism reserves the right to disqualify any Entrant from the Contest if, in Kerala Tourism’s sole discretion, it reasonably believes that the Entrant has attempted to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest by cheating, deception, or other unfair playing practices or annoys, abuses, threatens or harasses any other entrants, Kerala Tourism, or the Judges.
Intellectual Property Rights :
As between Kerala Tourism and the Entrant, the Entrant retains ownership of all intellectual and industrial property rights (including moral rights) in and to the article (excluding Kerala Tourism’s rights in the Kerala Tourism logo/trademark). As a condition of entry, Entrant grants Kerala Tourism a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, transferable, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, adapt, modify, publish, distribute, publicly perform, create a derivative work from, and publicly display the articles for any purpose, including display on the Kerala Tourism website, without any attribution or compensation to Entrant. Entries will not be returned.
Privacy :
Entrants agree that personal data submitted with an entry, including name, mailing address, phone number, and email address may be collected, processed, stored and otherwise used by Kerala Tourism, its affiliates and the consultants for the purposes of conducting and administering the Contest. By entering the Contest, Entrants agree to the transmission, processing, disclosing and storage of this personal data by Kerala Tourism, its affiliates and the consultants.
Publicity :
By entering the competition, the participants & attendees permit themselves to be photographed/ recorded by electronic, online and print media for telecast, publications & contacted by their given email ids and other display usage of the Kerala Tourism or its consultant. Kerala Tourism or its consultant may also collect any information, photograph, video clip etc. from the participant for publication or sharing for the promotional requirement of Kerala Tourism or its consultant.
Warranty :
Entrants warrant that their articles are their own original work and, as such, they are the sole and exclusive owner and rights holder of the submitted articles and that they have the right to submit the articles in the Contest and grant all required licenses. Each Entrant agrees not to submit any articles that :
infringes any third party proprietary rights, intellectual property rights, industrial property rights, personal or moral rights or any other rights, including without limitation, copyright, trademark, trade names, industrial designs, patent, trade secret, privacy, publicity or confidentiality obligations; or
otherwise violates applicable state, federal, or local law and agrees.
Indemnity :
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Entrant indemnifies and agrees to keep indemnified Kerala Tourism, its affiliates and the Consultant at all times from and against any liability, claims, demands, losses, damages, costs and expenses resulting from any act, default or omission of the Entrant and/or a breach of any warranty set forth herein. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Entrant agrees to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Kerala Tourism, its affiliates and the consultant from and against any and all claims, actions, suits or proceedings, as well as any and all losses, liabilities, damages, costs and expenses arising out of or accruing from such act.
Elimination :
Any false information provided within the context of the Contest by Entrant concerning identity, mailing address, telephone number, email address, ownership of right or non-compliance with these Rules or the like may result in the immediate elimination of the entrant from the Contest.
Internet And Disclaimer :
Kerala Tourism and its consultant are not responsible for any malfunction of the entire Contest Site or any late, lost, damaged, misdirected, incomplete, illegible, undeliverable, or destroyed articles or votes due to system errors, failed, incomplete or garbled computer or other telecommunication transmission malfunctions, network connectivity problems, hardware or software failures of any kind.
Right To Cancel, Modify Or Disqualify :
If for any reason the Contest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Contest, Kerala Tourism reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest. Kerala Tourism further reserves the right to disqualify any Entrant who tampers with the submission process or any other part of the Contest or Contest Site.
Forum And Recourse To Judicial Procedures :
This Contest is governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Thiruvananthapuram will have exclusive jurisdiction to try any dispute arising from this Contest. By participating in this Contest, you agree to be bound by the terms of these Rules and by Kerala Tourism’s decisions, which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to this Contest. If any provision(s) of these Rules are held to be invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions hereof will remain in full force and effect. To the extent permitted by law, the rights to litigate, seek injunctive relief or make any other recourse to judicial or any other procedure in case of disputes or claims resulting from or in connection with this Contest are hereby excluded, and Entrants expressly waive any and all such rights.
Contest Period :
The Contest begins on 04th February 2014 and the closing date for receipt of entries is 15th March 2014, midnight (IST) (“Contest Period”). All dates are subject to change.
