A candidate for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy must, at the time of application, hold a Master’s degree in the concerned subject with at least 55% Marks (50% for SC/ST/Physically disabled candidates) or an equivalent grade of M. Phil degree of the university, a deemed university or other university incorporated by any law for the time being in force and recognized by the University
All the eligible candidates who wish to take admission in Ph.D. programme either through Doctoral Entrance Test (DET) or National Level Test such as NET/GATE (whichever applicable)/JEST and state level eligibility test such as MPSLET accredited by the UGC or Teacher Fellowship holders or holders of M.Phil. degree through entrance test will be required to apply in a prescribed form available on university website (dauniv.ac.in/Ph.D) alongwith the application fee of Rs. 1000/ (Rupees. One thousand only) in the form of demand draft in favour of “Registrar, DAVV, Indore”, payable at Indore, to the respective test centres The duly filled application forms should be submitted to respective Head of the test centre latest by 05-03-2014.
The examination date for DET-2014 for vacant seats in different subjects (List enclosed) is scheduled on 09-03-2014 from 10.00 a.m to 1.00 p.m. at the respective DET centres. The candidate appearing in the DET is required to bring photo copy of the application form along with the proof of the form submitted at the DET centre. No separate admit card will be issued. The verification of the candidature will be carried out by the invigilators from the original application form submitted at the centre.
Candidates who have qualified National Level Test such as NET/GATE/JEST etc. and State Level test such as MPSLET accredited by the UGC or Teacher Fellowship holders or holders of M.Phil. degree through entrance test will be exempted from DET. However, it is mandatory for them to submit their duly filled application along with the application fee of Rs. 1000/ (Rs. one thousand only) to the respective Head of the department.
** The Entrance Test ( DET-2014) shall comprise of one multiple choice objective type paper having one hundred questions of one mark each of three hours duration. The candidates must score minimum 40 % marks (35 % for SC/ST/Physically handicapped) to qualify the Doctoral Entrance Test.
** The question paper for DET-14, will preferably comprise of 5 sections, each containing 20 multiple choice questions. The paper will overall have 100 multiple choice questions. There will not be any negative marking.
The students can appear in DET of the subject of their post graduate (PG) degree or in its allied subjects. The Board of Studies (BOS) will identify their allied subjects for the promotion of Inter Disciplinary Research.
Once the student is eligible for Ph.D. admission on the basis of DET or National Level Test such as NET/GATE/JEST etc. and State Level test such as MPSLET accredited by the UGC or Teacher Fellowship holders or holders of M.Phil. degree through entrance test,he or she can apply for Ph.D. admission in the same subject, or its allied subjects if approved by concerned Dean/Chairman of BOS. All such candidates shall have to appear for an interview. The Departmental Research Committee (DRC) will conduct interview of all the eligible candidates to examine the research potential of the candidates. The eligible candidates will have to bring the research plan along with the preferences of two supervisors under whom he/she desires to work at the time of interview. The DRC on the basis of the interview will finalize the list of the candidates for final admission in Ph.D. programme. The DRC will follow reservation policy of Govt. of Madhya Pradesh.
Those candidates who wish to pursue Ph.D. in an interdisciplinary/ allied subject other than the subject which they had opted for DET-2014 should apply along with a certificate from the respective Head of the department certifying the eligibility DET- 2014/NET/GATE/other national level test, latest by 31-03-2014. The name of such candidates will be deleted by the Head from the list of eligible candidates qualified for DET-2014 in that subject.
The fee for the Course work will be Rs. 10,000/ (Rupees Ten thousand only), which will be deposited through bank challan to the respective UTDs or centres of course work.
The Ph.D. course work 2014 can also be availed by the candidates who are already registered or awarded or failed in the course work conducted in 2013 by the university. Such candidates may apply for admission to the Ph.D.Course Work -2014 by submitting an application on plain paper forwarded by the concern Guide along with an application fee of Rs. 1000/(Rupees one thousand only).They after the confirmation of admission have to pay the Course work fee of Rs. 10, 000/ ( Rupees Ten Thousand Only) at the Centre of Course work.
The candidates who could not clear one or two papers in the earlier Ph. D. course work conducted by the university in 2013, can also apply for second attempt examination in those papers by submitting the application along with a challan of Rs. 200/ (Rupees Two Hundred only) per paper to the concerned department.
