Kriya Yojane Scheme For Christian 2013-14 :
Government of Karnataka has considered Christians as minority community . As per 2001 census the total population of Christians is 10.09 lakhs in Karnataka. This community is categorized under 3″B” and provides with reservation under article 15 (4) and 16 (4) of the constitution in Educational Institutions & Government jobs . Government of Karnataka is implementing number of schemes for the welfare of the community in socio-economic and educational fields .
They are as follows :
** During 2013-14 separate grant has been earmarked for the Christian development programme by increasing budgetary allocation from Rs.50 Crores to Rs.100 Crores.
** Maximum Rs. 10 lakhs will be provided for repairs and modernization of churches and Rs. 25 Crores are set aside for this purpose.
** Grant in aid of Rs. 50 lakhs to Rs. 1 crore will be provided for the construction of a community hall a budgetary allocation Rs.5 crores is reserved forthis purpose.
** Inorder to encourage Christian students Rs. 10 crores is provided under Uttejana scheme .
** A grant-in-aid of Rs. 10crores is provided for orphanages & old age homes.
** Rs. 10 crores is kept for providing Skill Development Trainings like Computer/Animation/BPO & Nursing (GNM&GSM) .
** A grant of Rs. 50,000/- will be provided under “Bidaai” Scheme for marriage expenses for econ backward girls/widows/Divorcees .
** Minority Welfare Information Centers are established in all Districts to create awareness am minorities about the schemes.
** With an objective of empowerment through Education and with the assistance of Government Scholarships like Pre-matric, Post-matric & Merit-cum-means are being awarded .
** Rs. 10 lakhs will be provided to each student who opt to pursue higher studies abroad. IAS/KAS
** Pre-Examination Coaching will be provided through reputed coaching centers. Pre-Examination
** Training for “C” Group posts and Police recruitment will also be provided.
** Stipend for Law Graduate trainees.
